When you visit this site you can enter your address and a map will pop up with your house as the small icon of a house and red, blue, green, dots surrounding your entire neighborhood.
When you click on these dots a picture of a person will appear with an address and the description of the crime he or she had committed.
The best thing is that you can show your children pictures and see how close these people live to your home or school.
This site was developed by John Walsh from Americas Most Wanted. Another tool to help us keep our kids safe.
Interestingly, some of them look like very nice people too. It just goes to show, you can't judge somebody at face value.
I have one next door.
I told him if he ever looked at my daughter like that again he would come to understand the word "victimized."
A couple within a mile or two, in an upscale neighborhood.
We had a registered sex offender two doors down from us at our old house. We learned of it when someone put a printout from the state website in our mailbox. I warned the children to stay away from his house. A few years later, he committed suicide, and although I was sad for him, I'm ashamed to admit my first reaction was relief.
There's 23 within 5 miles of our place, 13 within 5 miles of the house where I grew up. Course if anyone was stupid enough to attack a kid here in base housing, I'm pretty sure there'd be a Navy dad or two willing to beat the snot out of the offender.
Checked the neighborhood where I grew up and found out a kid I knew grew up to diddle kids under 14. Yikes!
How surprising, PA. doesn't want to show anything on this map....
Do you think its because rendell might need their votes????
Yeah - Bill Klinton.
I just searched for a specific name. A guy I knew growing up who is now in prison in Washington state for having sex with minors. His name didn't come up. Is this because he's still in prison, or is the list incomplete?

I'm not sure about the list and how up to date it is. Maybe there's more specific info about that at the website.
Did you happen to look at the unmapped names?
The list is incomplete. I know there are 54 offenders in my community because I ordered the list from the CBI. Only about a quarter show up on this.
No mapable data
Unfortunately, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont do not currently provide addresses for registered sex offenders. Consequently, we are unable to provide adequate or meaningful information about sex offenders located in these states. We will add functionality that will allow searches by name and city in the future.
We suggest that you contact your state senators and representatives and ask them why you cannot have access to critical information you need to protect your loved ones. Tell them that you want the same registered sex offender location information that is available to your neighbors in surrounding states.
We will continue to monitor these four states. When they begin publicizing offender address information we will provide it to Family Watchdog visitors.

SKSKSK
Our county has a automatic email notification if an offender moves into the area. There are quite a few living in my town.
