Is Your Comcast Internet Connection Sloooooow?

Until recently, my biggest problem with Comcast internet was being frequently disconnected. However, I am now noticing that even when you are connected, Comcast often has painfully slooooooow speed. Anybody else have these connections.

That's what I would do too. Unplug everything, wait for at least one minute, and then it would be OK again for a while. And then finally one day that trick didn't work anymore. The problem was my router, maybe yours is slowly going bad too.

PJ, I would imagine you've checked for spyware and viruses?

Every so often, after being online for a couple of hours, the ONLY site I'm able to access and navigate is FR.

The fix is to shut down and restart........I don't usually even bother to fix it.

Yes, I suffer from Comcastitis. I think I guessed you did as well on a DUFU thread recently. My blackouts only occur at night, during peak usage times. It stinks on ice.

Be sure your computer is not higher than the comcast internet connection jack. Otherwise the bits will have to travel uphill and if there are lots of bits the pressure of the slope can really slow things down.

You've got it wrong, those speeds are already rated in bits.

Small b = bits. Capital B = Bytes.

Don't know if that helps any, but it seems to work for me.

Same here. I have my modem wired to a power strip so I can reset it periodically.

I don't think it's really a comcast problem.

These cheap cable modems, routers, etc. are really small special purpose computers which just crash occationally

Thats called power-cycling. It works for me too. However since Comcast went up to 6000 a couple months ago I have only had to do it once to get my speed up to that level. Before I had to power cycle several times a week. I am generally satisfied with Comcast.
