Welcome to the new FreeRepublic folding@home thread. The previous thread has gotten too large, so we move on to yet another.

While this folding@home team is not officially sanctioned by Free Republic, it's 250+ members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).

Currently, the team is in 241st place, having moved up from 1200th place, a week earlier, and is now in the top 100 teams, for daily contributions.

This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 8 folding threads)

Either Soccer_Maniac, or Texas_booster, should be starting a new thread sometime tonight... right guys? Huh?

We decided to start the new thread on Monday morning to reach a different FR crowd.

Monday does seem like a better point. A lot of those who work the M-F 9-5 might be at home and FReepin'.

We want to reach a new FR demographic to get more new members. We've been starting threads on the weekend in the past and may have exhausted the available CPUs for these FR members.

Let's leave Jim and the mods out. We can exist here, do our thing and be left alone. Seems to be a mutual agreement.

Yes, yes, yes. Draw no attention to ourselves and our folding.

Waahh.... since I updated the links, you cannot just cut-n-paste the links anymore, you have to go view source, and get the raw html.

Ah.... why does making things simpler, complicate things?

*such is life*

Yes, yes, yes. Draw no attention to ourselves and our folding.

I'm not sure of the sentiment, all I really have to comment about this is that if you review the folding here on FR circa January 2,2006, we don't really want too much attention drawn to this. Yes, pick up folks willing, but the brass has spoken, we'll leave it there.

Proof that Fry's is the devil...$159. What you say? $159 for a ECS K9T890A, Athlon 64 3200+. And 1 GB of Corsair PC3200 dual channel RAM (2x512 MB) for $49.99

You PRETEND not to know, but the sad fact is, MEN, are afflicted with the shopping gene too, but only for certain categories of goods. We control ourselves, and reserve the adrenalin rush, for items of value, like power tools, beer, and electronics. Clothing, housewares, and Decorative Bric-a-brac... *pshaw*... that is unworthy, of a male shopping gene. 7200 SATA Hard Drive, a 2GB Video Card, and a cheap motherboard, ... Watch out Woman, thy name is "later"...:)

LOL!

We're expecting our latest New Egg order on Tuesday. We had an old box upstairs with a dead mobo. Older Athlon. So we're getting a new board for it, we have everything else lying around.

We'll be hot on your trail with our additional 450 mHz cpu!! LOL
