Welcome to the new FreeRepublic folding@home thread. The previous thread has gotten too large, so we move on to yet another.
While this folding@home team is not officially sanctioned by Free Republic, it's 250+ members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).
Currently, the team is in 241st place, having moved up from 1200th place, a week earlier, and is now in the top 100 teams, for daily contributions.
This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 8 folding threads)
At this rate we should overtake Team Fark (currently #144) in 1.7 months - with continued growth, we could do it in 30 days.

Already on it but I'll try switching to the console version as someone else suggested. Thank you all :-)
Looking at 24 hour point productivity and assuming no rate growth or decline on anyone's part, I think we would fall into around 50th place eventually at this point, although it's conceivable we could hit 25th. Unfortunately most of those teams have about 10 million so it will take us quite a while to catch up. Perhaps when I have some time later I will put together a graph on Excel predicting when we'll reach around 50th place. If we continue growing as forecasted in the next couple months, it could be faster than you'd think!
Hey SS, come check this out when you get a chance. We can use all the help we can get.
Bookmarked for later reply.
:O)
P
Please let GLDoug know that I sent him another completed work unit to make up for the one I gave to GLDoug. GL_Dame also has been donated another work unit.
Any suggestions would be very nice and helpful.
I find it helpful to reboot every few days. Sometimes, memory allocation gets locked, and the program won't shut down nicely.
Thanks, I'll do that now.
Make that:
Please let GLDoug know that I sent him another completed work unit to make up for the one I gave to GL_Doug.
Another inactive folder is born.
Yup, that fixed it, thanks again. :-)
That's OK, the DUmmies just love gloating about our inactive folders. They think GL_Doug is just a different FReeper that joiner and then quit for one reason or another. I think we should all change our user names for one cycle, then change them back, just to drive the DUmmies nuts !! Look at all the FReepers that quit !!!!< /DU thinking>
It's no fun beating them anymore, it's like a watching football game that's 110-3.
Neat! Thanks for the ping.
Am getting closer to my goal. I want to be in the top 10% of all folders, am at 13+% right now, up from 17+ a couple of weeks ago.
Fold on!
You went to my high school, too, huh?
A quick look at FAHstats indicates:
- They have 144 members who have produced a WU in the last three weeks.
- Six of those haven't produced in over 10 days.
- Seven more haven't produced in over a week.
- They have 131 members that can be considered "active".
The EOC Stats page agrees with my assessment, listing 131 active DUmmies.
We have 189 of 264 active, or 71%.
I guess they really are better the we are !!!!! ROFLMAO !!!
