If they drive in the 500 like the Shootout there is going to be a really big one again. Shrub got a warning to calm down yesterday, we will find out on Thursday if he has decided not to race like a wild man and as if every lap is the last lap. I'm just glad he's not in my drivers group. On Sunday there will be twice as many cars on the track.
Sometimes I don't agree with DW at all but tonight he said the drivers are getting too comfortable with safety measures like the soft walls and the in-car advances in the last 5 years which makes them careless on the track.

there is going to be a really big one There always is and expect more than one. I have never been a fan of restrictor plate racing, but if they really want to stop the bump drafting, all they have to do is remove the reinforcement front the front bumper. All the cut down spoilers, reduced fuel tanks, and whickerbills in the world will not stop it.

I will have to defer to Jr's expertise on plate racing. He said......
"It's a necessary evil is what it is. You can't restrictor plate race without doing it. You have to do it or we'd be racing single file and nobody will come to watch that.''
Tony said......
Stewart said he was hit so hard by Ryan Newman that his head bounced off the headrest.
"It should have knocked a filling loose,'' he said. "I've never hit the headrest so hard when I didn't back it into the wall."

I don't buy that. Right after Smoke's rant (Jr was standing right next to him), they asked Jr his opinion. He seemed to want to dodge the question at first, then answered as you noted.
We all give our favorites a pass on this and bash those that screw it up. This is bogus, if it's bad for one, it's bad for all. I think it's bad for the sport.
Time to flip a coin, 8:00!

Flipped through both pretty good, our VCR doesn't record anymore either.
Another thought on fixing the bump problem, build the cars to look like REAL cars again. I know that won't happen, they don't build real cars anymore. ;)

WAY out of his league. Check this out.
Pemberton said extra staff and television monitors will be used to watch for bump drafting, primarily in the corners that have been dubbed "No Zones.'' He said penalties would range from a pit road pass to being parked if there are repeat offenders.

This is what happens when the CEO hires managers dumber then he is. The corporate car is a prime example. Ask car owners for their input...only after the deed is done.
BTW...have you ever been to a cookout and the chef had to change the tank of charcoal half way thought the Rib Eyes because he had tee many martoonies and didn't notice the flameout...

And what exactly does this paragraph really mean?
Mark Martin said most of the violators were younger drivers. Pemberton would not pinpoint names. He said a veteran who correctly uses the bump draft will be looked at no differently than a younger driver that doesn't.

The obvious solution to bump-drafting is eliminating the restrictor plates. But I never hear any drivers mentioning that.
We know what NASCAR thinks. Does anyone have a pulse on what the drivers think about that option?

I don't think I've heard much from the drivers on that subject either.
I like the plate races personally, they are more exciting to watch than the tracks where they get strung out going round and round. However, a few little punks may ruin it by thinking they are invincible and can slam draft with the big boys.
Of course Nascar had the whole off season to fix this because it was going on at Dega, but chose not to. Now at the last minute they are going to adopt a NEW rule with a lot of grey areas including a no bump area. We'll see, but they better be careful about handing out those penalties or they will have fans walking out of the track. There's already a buzz about that.
