"Finally the voice of reason..."

Athletes at this level have to be more reasonable and mature than those who try and live vicariously through them.

Those people wouldn't make it as athletes even if they had more talent than the people look to to give their lives meaning.

My hats off to a very classy Seattle team.

The sad part about sports is that only one team ever really gets to be happy with their season. The Seahawks did well, best season ever for the franchise. And between the age of their talent and the way the NFC is they're in good shape to make another run next year. And if the Colts actually go the distance (I doubt it, but you never know) I'll be rooting for the NFC team, maybe I'll give the Seahawks a little extra mojo.

That's the nature of competitive sports: the best team wins.

True that. Out of the 12 teams that make the playoffs, 11 end their seasons with a loss.

This is so refreshing. Finally a little dignity comes to the fore from Seattle.

llevrok's first improvement: get rid of the replay video. When the play is over, it is over.(for better or worse)

If they keep this up they will lose their status as the Whine Capital of America.

But the odd thing about sports today, especially the NFL, is that the 2nd place finisher gets labled the "Loser" instead of credit for being a great team.

I have been staying out of this (in large part because of a hefty post Super Bowl hangover) but I agree. Seattle's players were a class act during and after the game.

I'm with you here. I actually like the 'Hawks from back in the Jim Zorn to Steve Largent days, but not against the Steelers. It was the whining that got my feathers in a ruffle.

Good luck Seattle and if you don't want Shawn Alexander anymore I'd love to see the Steelers sacrifice some high priced vets and free agents for some cap space.

They're a former AFC team and were wise enough to abandon the dome (I oppose domes) so that's good enough reason for me to root for them as long as they aren't up against my Steelers. Really when it was looking like the AFC representative was going to be either to Colts or the Broncos I was all prepared to root for the Seahawks (even said as much on some ancient thread late in the season).

I think I'd rather dump high priced vets to keep Randal El. We're in a bit of trouble with the cap next year and Randal El is a free agent, though Bettis' retirement helps a lot. Not saying anything bad about Alexander but I think we'd be better with Randal El if it came to an either or of just those two.

Bottom line ... the Seahawks had a lot handed to them this past season. Second easiest schedule in the NFL ... ranked 31 out of 32 teams. In a tougher conference they would have been hard pressed to make the playoffs. In the AFC west for instance I would rank Denver & San Diego as better teams than the Seahawks ... putting them on par with Kansas City perhaps. In any case the Seahawks had a good run ... it took Denver 4 shots at the SB before winning one.

I agree. My cut list would include Duce Staley(I was against signing him in the first place), Cedrick Wilson (I'd like to see a larger role for Quincy Morgan), Let Kimo walk, he's old, let Townsend walk move McFadden and Coldsclough up on the chart, let Maddox go, keep Rod Rutherford as 3rd string. Could be the end of Mike Logan as well, even though we went to the same H.S., his knees are getting dinged on a regular basis.

I had no problem getting Duce, that was all part of the "Jerome is getting old but we still want him" move and it worked out well for us last year (Bus was pretty fresh for the last half of the season because Duce was the feature back until he got hurt), but now Duce's time with the team is over, we've got Parker for the feature and Haynes for 3rd downs that should be fine for the ground game. Definitely get rid of Maddox. IMHO if we manage to keep Randal El I say find a way to not dress a 3rd QB, if Ben and Batch (or whoever #2 winds up being) go down use Randal El, he knows the plays and practices with the first squad and wants to throw more balls anyway, I'm not sure if the league rules would let us get away with it since there's all kinds of stuff involving the 3rd QB and what happens if he goes in, but if they can navigate the rules I think Randal El is by far our best 3rd QB option (heck might even be a good 2nd QB option). My problem with getting rid of Townsend is I'm not sure Taylor is ready to be the #1 CB yet, he still has a lot of lapses in play. Everything else I'm with you on. Should come out next season in pretty good shape.
