I think we've found the problem. There are too many people who don't understand the "breaking the plane" concept. Sorta like that idiot Billy Packer last night who, at the end of the game, couldn't understand why the Tar Heels didn't put Terry back in.
Terry had fouled out about four minutes earlier.
Many people posting "opinions" don't know the NFL rules.
One idiot was complaining about Hassleback not being given a 1st down when he went into the QB slide (I think in the 1st qtr). The dink didn't know the QB slide rule.
Same goes for the push off. The ref HAD to flag it. It was on an island RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM.
I fully understand breaking the plane. But your cut-and-dried interpretation is not complete - it disregards the arm in front of the ball. The arm broke the plane. The ball did not necessarily do so.
And the line judge signalled fourth down until Ben moved the ball forward.
Don't make yourself look dumb accusing others of not understanding something.
