Oh, come on. This "story" is nothing more than a bunch of self-righteous busybodies expressing faux outrage. What is the big deal? Such a non-story. Have any of these reporters EVER not buckled their kid? Man, I remember as a kid standing up in the front seat of my mothers car as we were going down the road. Of course she told me to sit, but really, from the breathlessness of all the reports you would think Spears held a knife to the kid's throat.

She drives a new Ford Expedition with an airbag. Had she even hit the curb hard then that bag would have snapped that little kids neck. When we were kids it was different, I have seen airbags deploy that have knocked a big firefighter back on his ass at least 4 feet from the car.
She is a twit to risk the little kids life like that, especially the way those paparazzi like to weave and chase her through traffic, one little oops and BAM!

Thanks for reminding us that this "terrible" activity was once commonplace. Isn't it interesting that these same people who decry this uncivilized act would have cheered if she'd had an abortion?

That's nothing. I remember riding on the running board of my Dad's low-50s vinatage pickup. This would have been late 1960s. Couldn't get away with that now.

Sorry, but Britney deserves the scorn. Back in the Leave It To Beaver years airbags didn't deploy upon mere fender benders, which would have instantly killed Britney's baby. And since paparazzi foolishly chase and crash into celebraties these days, Britney proved she's not only a dumb blonde but a very stupid mother.

This "story" is nothing more than a bunch of self-righteous busybodies expressing faux outrageTrue - what has this country come to? Seat belt nazis, anti-smoking nazis, offensive speech nazis - people have far too much time on their hands. How many times have you heard some twit (who was stiking his/her nose in someone else's business) describes as a community activist?
We had some a$$hole woman around here (Atlanta) last year stepping out in front of cars to assert "pedestrian rights" or some silly thing like that since legally pedestrians have the right of way except at intersections controlled by traffic lights - I guess she got mad because someone wouldn't slam on their brakes to let her j-walk

BRAVO AND AMEN. Safety nazis at it again. She drove, according the paparazzi who followed her, one to two miles then put him back in the carseat. GAWD..

self-righteous busybodies expressing faux outrageWhat you said!
And I am hearing people say in horror that it was for A COUPLE OF MILES and the travel on the PCH is 60-70 mph. According to my old math, that would mean two minutes of "chld abuse."
Not a good practice Britney but, really, a minor lapse. What a pantload.
