Coming up to the end of the season and I already have withdrawal bump.
Season finale bump tonight. TV Guide seems to suggest that some "beloved" character is leaving the show tonight, wondering out loud if Lem is going to eat a bullet.
Hold on, wasn't Vic going to drive Lem down to Mexico at the end of the last episode? The whole thing of Vic helping with the robbery involving the has-been hip-hopper was to buy Lem protection from that guy in jail (forget his name, but both Vic and Kavanaugh were trying to buy him).
When the robbery went haywire, there went the deal for Lem. That's when Vic decided that Lem was headed somewhere the Feds couldn't touch him, hence the final scene last week.
My money's on Dutch leaving. Chauvinist that he is, I can't see him taking orders from his old partner, now the Chief at "the Barn". And Kavanaugh is DEFINITELY outta there. One and done for the IAD bully. His ex-wife is gonna prove to be too much baggage for him to deal with. With Lem gone, the case will unravel faster than an old golf ball with the cover taken off.
No Liam no case. I think blondies going to take a hit for the team.
What really creeps me out is the clip showing Kavanaugh with Vics ex. How could she even think about it after he screwed up her personal finances!
I have to work tonight,I have to wait for the weekend. :(
Thanks for the ping! BIG Shield fan here. As fara s a "beloved character" getting written out, my guess is Claudette. I wouldn't be surprised to see Vic's ex go, too. Her role has knid of gotten in the way, IMO. From the previews, it looks like Kavanaugh wants to even the score with ex-wives, and maybe he ends up killing her while raping her.
Be careful! I missed last Tuesday's episode and when I went to watch it on Friday night, freakin FX was DOWN! No show! Fortunately, it was on again on Sunday night and I caught it then.
My recommendation is to get a friend to tape it for you.

LH
Ahh. On second thought, the most likely character to be leaving the show is the woman officer having the baby in the car.
Don't even try to predict what happens tonight on "The Shield."
You're not up to it, even if you've watched every episode for 4 1/2 seasons and believe you know Vic Mackey and the rest of this show's characters like you know your own family.
This show is impervious to speculation. Just when you expect it to zig, it almost always zags.
And tonight (10 p.m. on FX), as "The Shield" closes out the first half of its fifth season, it zigs and zags with such intensity that it just might leave you dizzy and out of breath.
Fans of "The Shield" know that feeling. They've been experiencing it every week since the season began Jan. 10. That's when Mackey (Michael Chiklis) first started to tangle with John Kavanaugh, the creepy LAPD Internal Affairs investigator played by Forest Whitaker whose pursuit of Mackey and his unorthodox, corrupt Strike Team has come to resemble Capt. Ahab's obsession with Moby Dick... < SNIP >
This was already the best show on television, but Forest Whitaker has really kicked it up to a new level. He is an absolutely amazing actor (Bird, Ghost Dog, Crying Game), with the hardest-working lazy eye in Hollywood.
He also made a mint of money for directing the chick-flick "Waiting to Exhale" (made for $15 million, it grossed about $100 million).
I remember Whittaker in 'Good Morning Vietnam' and a whole lot of other supporting roles over the years. He is a great, great actor.
HOLY SMOKES!!!
Shane's a dick, and in the end, he's going to be the one who rats on Mackey.
Hardcore. Shane killed Lem!!
Well, I saw that coming from a long way off. Which is kind of unusual, because the writers don't usually 'telegraph' their big twists.
That was a semi-dud grenade though. Maybe the salvadorans are just filling them with regular gunpowder.... I was actually thinking Lem might survive the blast.
I was hoping Vic would beat the snot out of Kavanaugh there at the end. That Kavanaugh is one sick puppy. And Dutch.... What a weasel.
(Spoiler warning for 'The Shield' fans who haven't seen the season finale yet.)
We were tipped off a few episodes ago when Kavanaugh first visited Antwan Mitchell at the prison and showed him photos of the team, and Antwan pointed at the picture of Shane and named him as the weak link. I figured something was up at that point.
Next season when that woman lawyer informs the remaining members of the team that Lem was going to take the fall himself for the Salvadoran money-train heist, and was NOT going to rat out the team, the poop is really going to hit the fan.
It's definitely the end of 'The Shield' as we know it.
It will be interesting to see how the whole thing eventually gets restructured.

That was sick! You knew Lem was getting erased... but by Shane for Pete's sake!? This makes a harsh new plot line. Dutch - the best Detective in the barn who already knows the strike team is dirty , isn't going to follow the weapons dealer angle for very long. Almost everyone around Lem's body knew that the strike team had something to do with it except Ron and Vic. Totally f-ing twisted!
You and Antwan understand that. Seems like the begining of this season they even set that up with Shane telling his wife that NOTHING would come between them, eluding to the strike team. Although in retrospect you kind of wonder if that was the segway for fragging Lem.
To me, Shane hasn't got the brains to have come up with something that clever.
I was thinking that only Shane could do something that stupid. If Vic had to take out Lem, I think he would have used more discretion about the timing and method. Shane took out Lem on the night everyone on the strike team was trying to shake their IA tails. That cloud of suspicion is like a hurricane now.
Except that, by using a Salvadoran grenade, it might just turn suspicion away from them. Remember the Feds' Crown Victorias that went kaboom at the beginning of the episode?
And I do believe there was a threat (veiled or otherwise) against the Strike Team when they took down the Salvadorans yet again during the cocaine bust. Or, at least the Feds were convinced there would be retaliation.
Again, I don't think Shane is smart enough to come with something like that on his own.
