Oddsmakers favor Colts, not Steelers next season ESPN.com news services
Despite winning Super Bowl XL, the Pittsburgh Steelers aren't the favorite next season.
The MGM Mirage has already installed the Indianapolis Colts, who lost to the Steelers in the playoffs this year after being viewed as the favorite much of the season, as 4-1 favorites.
The Seattle Seahawks, who lost Sunday to the Steelers, are the favorite in the NFC at 5-1.
The oddsmakers also have the New England Patriots, winners of three of the past five Super Bowls, at 5-1.
As for the champion Steelers, they and the Carolina Panthers are both listed at 6-1.

yeah.
I figured they would be. A Lot of what Illinois did last year was based on Dee Brown moving without the ball. It still is. If you want to beat Illinois, you have to contain Brown and not give me a chance to get his other teammates open looks.
the surprising team, at least really early, was how strong Indiana looked coming out of the gates. But they've faded. They don't have a deep bench and their big guys are getting tired.
I say again:
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh.
Looks like another year with the Patriots becoming the de-facto division champions, despite the shakeups at Buffalo and NY.
The Big East and ACC are getting all the ink but the Big Ten is still damn tough.
I don't think we have to worry about those two squads for a few years.
Sportswriters aren't much different that the other guys at the newspaper --- mostly incompetent herd members. And broadcasters are mostly sportwriters who can't write.
Thing is, I'd like Miami to improve before they do. Right now, it looks like Miami is moving sideways, not forward, unless Saban knows something about these guys that no one else does.
yeah....
just from watching, I get the feeling that the ACC is a one trick pony with Duke and virtually everyone else having a bad year.
The Big East is a tough tough conference, and at the moment, it's beating the crap out of itself.
He signed a $90 million contract, maybe he should shoulder a little of the blame for the loss. He's a prima donna. Manning definitely doesn't like to take a hit, consequently when he's under pressure, he doesn't stand in there, he throws the ball away.
I think they should probably put a dress on him next year.
Maybe he should try moving in the pocket instead of just standing there.
LOL! Why would he want to take a hit, get sacked, lose yards and possibly get hurt? How in the world would that help his team?
What QB has the best stats in NFL history in his first 8 years? yea thats what I thought.
Exactamundo. They brag all year when they think they are going 16-0 on how great their line is and Pittsburgh ran thought them like water. Manning needs to learn to move his butt and quit doing all the checking off at the line, the other defenses have it figured out as a smoke screen now. Try a quick count and get the defense off guard now and then instead of running down the 30 second clock to 0 every play.
Heck, I know kids with great stats that are not playing ball anymore. It is not about stats it is about being able to run an offense and change when it isn't working. Manning is one dimensional. 4-5 step drop and throw down field. Take way his protection and he cannot overcome it.
Some guys pump their stats, others are winners. Manning falls into the first category.
He's too slow to move in the pocket. I think it was in the 3rd quarter of the playoff game when the nosetackle busted through the line and Peyton actually tried to scramble, the nosetackle almost caught him. Any QB that can't outrun a nosetackle is pretty much immobile, might as well be standing in quick seting cement cause that won't slow him down any.
pump their stats! lol How does he pump his stats when Dungy pulls him out of every game when they get a lead and bench him , when already made the playoffs
I'm glad we have him but, I was extremely disappointed in him after the Steelers game. IMO, he's really not that great of an all around athlete. You're not going to see him make a tackle like Ben did after Bettis fumbled and very seldom is he going to run, even when it's necessary, like others will. Reviewing his clipboard all afternoon while on the sidelines doesn't impress me much, especially after this many years of blowing it in the playoffs. I wanna win, damnit! lol Sometimes I think I want to win more than he does.
He will have to start to get that defense younger.
The SEC is really down this year.
the SEC and the Pac-10 are both really down this year.
The Missoui Valley Conference is picking up 2 spots from each this year.
