Where was I belligerent and what points that I made were ignorant? Did I say something false? Does Detroit not have too many moslems? Are certain neighborhoods in Cincinnatti not unsafe for non-residents? Is SE DC unsafe for non-residents after dark? (BTW a friend of mine who lived there at the time told me NEVER go in there as it wasn't safe)
Even Detroit has its good points.
I've never heard of any. What does Detroit have that I can't get elsewhere?
Insulting these cities insults them as well.
And how did I insult these cities by stating that I would never go there? Are the residents so thin skinned that the idea that someone else doesn't like cities destroys their self image?
Detroit is not a big center for Moslems. You might be thinking of Dearborn's Arabs or Hamtramack. But many, if not most, of those of Arab descent in that area are Christian. Moslems are the LEAST of Detroit's problems.
Unsafe neighborhoods are not unusual for cities. Those who want to cower in the suburbs are welcome to do so. Most of the fear of crime in the cities is wildly overblown by media hysterics. My neighborhood in Chicago is likely safer than your home town. Most of the crime is concentrated in a few areas even a few blocks in cities.
Detroit has excellent restraunts, an fine art museum and one of the top ten orchestras in the nation. It also has professional sports teams, one of the largest commuter universities in the country and plenty of culture for those who care about such matters.
You believe swearing never to go there is not an insult? If I said I would never set foot in your home you would most definitely take that as an insult. Your comments merely make FR look like a gathering place for the misinformed or silly but certainly affects no one personally.
