Super Bowl quarterbacks Ben Roethlisberger and Matt Hasselbeck are worried about using the new balls that will be used for every play in the first half of Sunday's Super Bowl XL per the NFL.
The main headache for passers is that the league never did a competent job of rubbing off the slick surface covering every football, ones they plan to donate to charity and give to the Hall of Fame and to the coaches and players in the game as souvenirs.
Unlike baseball, the league's officials have never been diligent in rubbing off the slippery surface covering every football. Big Ben will be wearing gloves due to a right thumb injury, and he believes he should be able to grip the new footballs.
"My only concern is how the receivers and guys like Jerome Bettis deal with the slippery new footballs," Roethlisberger said. "I understand the reason for putting so many footballs into play for this game, but I do know how difficult it is for my teammates to catch them."
Hasselbeck didn't know about the league's system of using a new football for every single play in the first half of the championship game.
"I don't like the new footballs, but I'm sure I will be able to deal with them," Hasselbeck said. "It's part of the deal, and every player on the field has to handle this situation. Most of the new footballs will be given to charity and that's a good thing."

I hear you.........
But, signing a bill with 20 different pens will not effect the result of that signing bill.
However, using a new, possibly slippery ball on every damn play of the first half just very well may effect the outcome of this game.
LoL~!
"Sorry, first day with the new balls."
Man, if I had a nickel for every time I said that...
You aren't very smart are you?
I'd love to wish you "good luck" today, but may I just wish you "good luck" for every day after today for the rest of your good life?
;-)
ROFL!
...new balls will be used for every play in the first half...
Def. coordinators can rule out any threat of a no-huddle offense to contend with.
"As long as the playing field is the same for all why should anyone cry over a new ball."
Anything that introduces an element of luck advantages the less skillfull team and disadvantages the more skillfull.
It may appear that a bad playing field should affect both teams equally and fairly. However, as with so many "intuitively obvious" things, that isn't the case.
In my sport, for instance, bad officiating can give the 2nd through 6th or 7th best competitors a chance to win a competition, where with very good officiating they would have no chance.
For the Playoff Game against Denver I posted:(Steelers) "by 17...Anyone? Anyone?" And they won by 17!
So today I'll be my own "Anyone" and say...Steelers by 17.
If a mouse fails to operate or should it perform erratically, it may need a ball replacement.
Mouse balls are now available as FRU (Field Replacement Units). Because of the delicate nature of this procedure, replacement of mouse balls should only be attempted by properly trained personnel.
Before proceeding, determine the type of mouse balls by examining the underside of the mouse. Domestic balls will be larger and harder than foreign balls. Ball removal procedures differ depending upon the manufacturer of the mouse. Foreign balls can be replaced using the pop off method.
Domestic balls are replaced by using the twist off method.. Mouse balls are not usually static sensitive. However, excessive handling can result in sudden discharge.

Thanks........ you said that so well.
People who do not play or have never played a sport at a very high level, I believe, have a tendency not to understamd what you have said so well.
Thanks again.
Hope you are right.......... I want to live through this game.
;-)
It's sure to be a real nail biter of a game! Great match up I think this year. That and the usual great commercials...I'll be watching from beginning to end this year.
Nail-biting? Nail-biting?
Try having Pittsburgh to beat the Colts straight up at + 4-1. Then, they disallow that interception. Then, Bettis fumbles inside the 10. Then, it takes a TD saving tackle by Big Ben. Then, Manning tries for the endzone on 3rd down. Then, the Colts miss a field goal.
And you want to talk about 'nail-biting'. :-)
I hope the commercials are better then they've been the past few years.
True enough...but this is the Super Bowl. It gets magnified by ten.
"True enough...but this is the Super Bowl. It gets magnified by ten."
Super Bowl?...
I don't care if it's the SB or the 1st race at Emerald Downs, a bet's a bet. :-)
Isn't this a topic Nina Hartley should be worried about? Playing with new balls.
By "nail biting" I mean I live closer to Seahawks geographically speaking...So I'd be haap if either team wins but I'll be mostly rooting for the Steeers. They are my fave of all football teams regardless of any other factor.
