Facade

Brian Bedard USA, 2005, 94 minutes www.angelfilme.com

"Facade chronicles the last 89 minutes of a young man's life, laying out his struggles with self-identity, conflicted relationships with his mother and friends, and his deeply unresolved grief over the death of his father a year earlier. Facade offers us a glimpse into a world at the end of a life and the factors that re-enforce the facade of living, rather than the living itself." – The Source

This is an 89-minute real-time story, based on true events, about the suicide of a young man named Harold at his 19th birthday party with his girlfriend, her friend, his best friend and his friend's drug-dealer. As the night unfolds, we see what could have been a night of pleasant debauchery transform into a drug-induced hypnotic frenzy of sex, pain, and physical and emotional brutality, that culminates in the clarity of thought and will necessary to propel Harold onward to his final moments.

Bedard allows us to observe his self-destruction until we begin to grasp his need to leave this world. Perhaps even respect him for the courage to step away from pain the world has thrown at him.

Facade heralds a major new talent. With just $7,000 and an appropriated camera, multi-hyphenate producer, writer, director and lead actor Brian Bedard transformed the emotional anguish of the suicide of his best friend into one of the most powerful films of the year. This is Facade.

I thought snuff flicks showed real suicides.

Not unless 'Romeo and Juliet' is a snuff flick, too.

I thought a snuff flick is when someone really dies? If this is a movie and the actor does not die, I don't think it is snuff.

Where do you get the idea it is a snuff film? Those show real people dying, while as far as I can tell the actor Bedard is still quite alive.

It's no more of a snuff film, than The Deer Hunter.

If this is a snuff film, then so are 95% of the movies out there

I've heard lefties refer to suicide as "courageous" before. It never fails to be "up is down, dark is light, wrong is right" with these self-hating nihilists.

I used to be involved in snuff films, but it was just too much work keeping the studio floor clean....dumbass actors refused to use the spitoons.

Or murders. Yes, they're just using the term "snuff film" to build a buzz about it.

A snuff film is what that wacko German made when another wacko volunteered to be killed by him - all recorded on video.

There are many Isl;amic "Martyrs" who could make a film like this. Sex is dreamed about with 72 Virgins, they blow themselves to heel fo Muhammed the pedophile. It still isnt called a snuff film.

In fact there has never been an actual snuff film found although there have been rumors of them.
