Have you taken a look at the free side? They give you info, but not enough to contact them. Maybe getting general locations can be enough for you to then go hit the on-line phone directories. Maybe not. I never paid for the service but it seemed to have a mix of current and historical data.

Depending on what state you are from, you can do a criminal background check yourself. Most states, if not all, have open records policies. You can start by going to the county courthouse(s) of where the person lives and ask for a criminal records check. It will probablly only list convictions, not arrests. It's a start and it's free. You can do the same type of searches for marriages and divorces. Some states may let you do birth record checks. (To see if this person has any children) These are also done at the courthouse, usually by the health department.

I've done plenty of these here in Indiana.

Hire a professional private investigator. If anything were to be brought back against you, and you followed proper channels you would be OK. If you were to start snooping, etc. you could be setting yourself up for a stalking/harassment etc. lawsuit. Google is also a good research tool. There is a lot of info there with different input parameters.
