Welcome to the OFFICIAL Friday/Saturday Night Singles' Thread
January 27th and 28th, 2006
"We're Gonna Have a Good Time Tonight...Let's Celebrate...It's All Right!"
In store for tonight:
I read a fascinating article in the February 2006 issue of Popular Mechanics entitled "The Flying Luxury Hotel." Rather than a cruise ship, it functions as a cruise craft -- but the potential for this new aircraft also extends to military and commercial freighting applications. More information can be found here. Let me know what you think!
Further thoughts:
What is/are your pet peeve(s)?

Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots
conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse,
to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.
And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!

*sigh* Been a long week. It appears your week wasn't too great. Run in's with your neighbor or job stuff?
To: rightwingintelligentsia
About 1300 miles. ;-) Still, my last move was more like 2000 (from VT to CO), so I guess this isn't so bad, depending on one's perspective. ;-)

Hello, hello, hello...this is my first *cough* offical appearance. Hidee Ho neighbors!
To: RosieCotton
Well, I will continue to pray for you!

No-job stuff, mostly. ;-)
Actually, the neighbor apparently got a gaming system of some sort this week, so instead of rap, we've been bombarded with vroom-vrooming and car crashes and explosions.
Sadly, it's *far* more musical. Almost pleasant. All hail the X-Box!
But tonight he's playing rap again. I've just got headphones on so I can drown it out with my own music!

What was the big deal about Jeeps at the Detroit show? I saw some glimpses on TV, but never followed up. I ask because I have a Red Jeep X Wrangler, wondered what the differences might be.

You know, I really don't know -- I didn't follow the Detroit Auto Show all that much.
Did it have something to do with the new Jeep that's going to be built on a car platform?

I realized it is Mozart's 250th birthday. I started to download music wildly!!! Mozart of course. And I've been playing with audio ever since. I was especially enamored with Maria Callas 'Magic Flute', OMG. The things you miss as you travel along the road.
To: Amityschild
Magic Flute is perhaps my favorite opera...hence I have a cat named Tamino. ;-)
He *thinks* he's a prince, all right...
To: RosieCotton
But tonight he's playing rap again. I've just got headphones on so I can drown it out with my own music! We've already discussed this and I'm guessing you're still a young lady. I wish I was closer. That is not polite and it isn't acceptable. I wouldn't think twice about letting him know.
I do realize of course at your age you aren't as cantakerous as us older ladies. I would not hesitate at this blatent disregard for others.

There used to be a web site dedicated to how people mishear lyrics to songs...that one was commonly heard as "I Fought the Lawn and the Lawn Won."

I don't know at all. I bought an 'X' in 2004. They have since come out with the 'Unlimited' (which I don't particularly like). But I kept seeing it prominently presented in newscasts, etc. Red, just like mine!
To: Amityschild
I think I could use "Eine Kleine Nacht Musik" tonight.
