Welcome to the OFFICIAL Friday/Saturday Night Singles' Thread
January 27th and 28th, 2006
"We're Gonna Have a Good Time Tonight...Let's Celebrate...It's All Right!"
In store for tonight:
I read a fascinating article in the February 2006 issue of Popular Mechanics entitled "The Flying Luxury Hotel." Rather than a cruise ship, it functions as a cruise craft -- but the potential for this new aircraft also extends to military and commercial freighting applications. More information can be found here. Let me know what you think!
Further thoughts:
What is/are your pet peeve(s)?

It's a good cheer-up for a single person. LOL! Well, I live alone and like it. ;-)

I'm full of all sorts of useless information/factoids. It's what makes me who I am.
The shocker is that at the time, there was somewhere Willie Nelson HADN'T done marijuana.

Well, technically, I don't live alone. I'm temporarily living in my parents' basement (TEMPORARILY!!!).

I wouldn't shout that too loud around here, or a CM, either. It might attract some negativity.

I like Hank Williams. :-)

It's not too bad. Sometimes they throw me some food down here. And sometimes, if I'm on my best behavior, they'll unchain me and let me walk around the yard a little bit.

My favorite modern-day country singer is George Strait. I LOVE the songs "If the Whole World Was a Honkytonk" and "High Tone Woman."
Actually, I like the whole album. He's never put out a bad album.

George Strait does have a lot of good songs.

My favorite kind of music is actually movie soundtracks. Love 'em.
In fact, you'll notice that even that Mel Torme clip I posted is from the movie "Dick Tracy."

High Tone Woman
I been watchin' you watchin' her watchin' herself in the mirror,
In her tailor-made dress an' her long blonde hair,
An' her big diamond rings: her custom-made shoes.
And I can by the look on your face that you're makin' your move,
But she hasn't got time for a man who's tongue-tied.
An' she doesn't like cowboys an' thinks less of fools.
So, boy, don't you saddle yourself to a high-tone woman.
She'll cut up your heart like an' old credit card,
When the fun and the money runs out.
I've never seen an uptown, well-read thoroughbred,
High-tone woman sink as low as you.
Hey, I'm on your side; don't go gettin' me wrong, now:
You're not a bad fellow at all.
But you're out of her league so stay in the bleachers:
Son, you couldn't please her if you had it all.
So, boy, don't you saddle yourself to a high-tone woman.
She'll cut up your heart like an' old credit card,
When the fun and the money runs out.
You're a fool if you saddle yourself to a high-tone woman. (I seen her.)
I've seen her cut up a heart like an' old credit card,
When the fun and the money runs out.
I've never seen an uptown, well-read thoroughbred,
High-tone woman sink as low as you.
Oh no, I've never seen an uptown, well-read thoroughbred,
High-tone woman sink as low as you.

The saddest song I've ever heard is George Jones' "He Stopped Loving Her Today."

I just put the Willie Nelson CD in my player...
To all the girls I've loved before - featuring Julio Iglesias
To all the girls I've loved before
Who travelled in and out my door
I'm glad they came along
I dedicate this song
To all the girls I've loved before
To all the girls I once caressed
And may I say I've held the best
For helping me to grow
I owe a lot I know
To all the girls I've loved before
The winds of change are always blowing
And every time I try to stay
The winds of change continue blowing
And they just carry me away
To all the girls who shared my life
Who now are someone else's wives
I'm glad they came along
I dedicate this song
To all the girls I've loved before
To all the girls who cared for me
Who filled my nights with ecstasy
They live within my heart
I'll always be a part
Of all the girls I've loved before
The winds of change are always blowing
And every time I try to stay
The winds of change continue blowing
And they just carry me away
To all the girls we've loved before
Who travelled in and out our doors
We're glad they came along
We dedicate this song
To all the girls we've loved before
To all the girls we've loved before
Who travelled in and out our doors
We're glad they came along
We dedicate this song
To all the girls we've loved before"
