Yeah, in a move, the boxes full of books are the heaviest.
Oh dear...yeah, a Neon wouldn't exactly be comfy for carting much!
Yeah...a minivan is probably the ultimate in uncool for a single person, but it does come in handy. Can carry almost as much as a pickup, but with the gas milage of a mid-size car. *And* I can carry seven passengers in a pinch. Not bad.
I've never been one of the cool kids anyhow. ;-)
Beautiful here, mid 40s and sunny, could`nt ask for better on Jan 28th.
In fact, my heaviest box full of books from the move is still sitting nicely in my closet. I'm scared to touch the thing.
How's this for uncool -- my Mom and Dad had to talk me out of getting a minivan around six years ago. I was a youth pastor at the time, and it would have come in real handy hauling people.
The boxes I have are really bigger than I should be using for books! I've been sliding them around here...can't hardly lift 'em. I'm thinking maybe I should repack 'em before actually mailing. It's so easy to just toss books into a box without realizing how quickly the weight is adding up...
Considering how many books I have, even after paring down, the easier they are to move the better! Did discover today that the cardboard bin behind Barnes and Noble generally has a good supply of smallish book boxes, so I'll likely be raiding it again. I really should use those to replace the boxes the books are in now.
I keep thinking that we're getting set-up for the big wham-o.
Especially if you're mailing them -- you get hit hard for a heavy package, as opposed to two smaller packages. At least, that's been my experience.
I bought mine right after Mom passed away a few years ago. I ended up hanging out with my younger siblings a lot of the weekends, especially as Dad works Saturdays, and there were seven of us near home at that point. Granted, I could have traded vehicles with Dad every weekend, but I decided I'd just go for a used van. It's been a good vehicle - I can't complain! But I do get some odd looks from others my age. ;-)
They've very practical vehicles, IMO. Wish they didn't have the stigma they do! They don't deserve it, poor little guys...
How's it going?
To the computer illiterate(me) what does that generally entail.
Well, since I conked out early last night, did I miss anything exciting on the thread?
We should design a cool van/minivan.
I got training in the military. Often experience counts for a lot.
There's also certification - with A+ certification (I'm working toward that), you have a much better shot at retail type PC support jobs - in computer stores. Most of those *require* A+.
Pretty well -- I realized that I really want a Jeep Gladiator; I hope they move to production really soon!
Not to mention it's easier to get smaller packages to the post office...
At least this time I won't make the mistake I made coming out here: I mailed a lot of stuff other than books and took most of the books with me in the van. Media rate is wayyyyyy cheaper than other shipping methods, so I'm much better off saving space in the van for other things.
Check out post #201.
Well...generally I've worked at maintaining and upgrading computers, helping with technical questions, doing basic network troubleshooting, unlocking accounts or resetting passwords...that sort of thing.
Ha!
That's cool. I'm not too picky with types of cars. All I care about is whether it can get me from point A to point B without any problems. LOL!
