Dear Senator Johnson;

I am emailing you today because I am a bit confused. I had read earlier press releases that you were committed to voting “Yes” to confirm President Bush’s nomination to the US Supreme Court Judge Samuel Alito and you have a video clip on your web site ( http://johnson.senate.gov/ ) claiming that you will indeed vote “Yes” on the Alito nomination.

However I have a message on my answering machine right now from a person named “Eva” representing an organization called “IndependentCourt.org” claiming that you were undecided on your vote and she stated that I should contact you to urge you to vote “No” on the Alito nomination for various reasons.

I had no idea who “IndependentCourt.org” was or more importantly whom they represented so I went to their web site at http://www.independentcourt.org/ and discovered that this group is really a coalition of just about every far left radical organization that ever came across the San Francisco Bridge.

Here is who “IndependentCourt.org” is: IndependentCourt.org is a broad coalition of groups opposed to the nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. We are a coalition of civil rights organizations, religious movements, labor unions, women's groups, disability rights advocates, pro-choice organizations, environmental groups, and others. Our organizations represent millions of Americans who are convinced that the confirmation of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court to replace Justice Sandra Day O'Connor would undermine the rights and freedoms that all Americans cherish. Senator Johnson, please correct me if I am wrong here. Hasn’t it been the implied power of the sitting president of the United States to appoint whomever he chooses to sit on the Supreme Court no matter what their idiological and political roots may lie? Wasn’t President Clinton’s nomination Judge Ruth Bader Ginsberg an avowed “pro choice” supporter and member of the ACLU? Wasn’t she seated on the Supreme Court by a 93 to 5 margin?

And now when there is a Republican President sitting in the White House and not only do we have Demcratic Senators and their liberal fringe group sycophants opposing his nomination merely because of their “allegeded concervative” views, they have also resorted to murckraking and juviniel smear tactics to defeat his nominees (http://www.americanprowler.com/dsp_article.asp?art_id=8963 & http://factcheck.org/article340.html# & http://www.drudgereport.com/flash3jrn.htm ).

These partisan political attacks on a Supreme Court judicial nominee are unprecedented, they are absolutely disgusting, and they and their practitioners do not belong in the American political process!

But more to the point of my correspondence with your office - I find this a bit odd that on one hand your press releases and your web site states that you will vote yes and put Judge Alito on the US Supreme Court but this liberal organization is stating that you are undecided and that you may just side with obstructionist Senators Kerry, Kennedy, and Clinton to vote “No”? Who is telling the truth – you or these liberal activists?

And please let me bring just another little item of pertinent interest to your upcoming vote on Judge Alito. A little over one year ago the people of South Dakota did almost the unthinkable – they gave up their committee representation and intrinsic “informal pull” contained in of one of the most powerful Democrats in the Senate in Tom Daschle because of two very basic reasons (1) They grew weary of his constant obstructionist partisan politics (2) He was more interested in representing radical liberal organizations like the ones listed above rather then the hardworking conservative people of South Dakota.

If you chose not to answer my question Senator Johnson, please let me remind you that your vote either “Yes” or “No” will eventually reveal who you truly represent. Don’t underestimate the intelligence of your constituents like Senator Daschle did and make the wrong choice, the voters of South Dakota are watching.

Thank you for your valuable time – clifcrds

I would have never given it one thought to contact my Democratic senator from South Dakota if I would not have recieved that phone call from this hodgepodge liberal leftist moonbat group urging me to call Senator Johnson to have him vote "No".

There is some of independentcourt.org's time and money that blew up in their face!

If I knew how to do it this would be a perfect place to post a picture of Nelson of the Simpsons with his gloatfull laugh of "Ha Ha"!

A liberal's idea of "independent" means you agree with them on 100% OF THE ISSUES.
