That is BS. Celebrities and wealthy people are able to afford top notch legal council, but they are also targeted and pursued much more aggressively than ordinary joes by police and prosecutors.
If an ordinary person got into a minor altercation with someone at a bar, the situation would be handled by security and then each party would go their separate way. If a celebrity is involved, the cops will called and the prosecutor will try to nail the celebrity to the wall in order to further his own career and to appear that he is not giving a celebrity a break.
The boat incident with the Vikings is a prime example. If the Viking players had been just ordinary people, the captain of the boat would have just cut the trip short and returned to shore. Since celebrities were involved, it was escalated.
Celebrities may tend to beat a rap frequently, but in most cases it is due to the charge against them being completely petty.
For a conservative message board, I am amazed by the amount of class envy that is present.
That's okay. It's always off-set by a little celebrity worship.
Get a grip, Jeff. My first post was entirely a joke merely to amuse myself. Take a few deep breaths and you'll feel better.
I think you make a good point. My brother-in-law is a district attorney and he thinks that judges are more likely to deal strictly with celebrities simply because they fear the accusation of going easy on the rich and famous.
Several years ago, another Redskin player was involved in a road accident. His name escapes me now, but he wrapped his Benz around a tree. When the cops got to the wreck, the first thing out of this guys mouth was "I'm so and so, defensive back for the Washington Redskins". Talk about a rich, arrogant POS.
What "class" would you put pro athletes in? No Class?
You got it. There is a lot of class envy around here. Really saddens me sometimes.
