I RESPECT Brian McGrory's blunt and honest, never-indifferent observations, even when they sting me and my colleagues. However, his take on Mike Capuano (''Traveling to oblivion," City & Region, Jan. 20) didn't reflect the Mike Capuano I know who serves his district with guts, heart, and a commitment that sets a high standard for any member of Congress. Massachusetts is well served by the experience and tenacity he brings to public service, and we'd all be better off if he were in the majority cleaning up the Washington that's broken the public trust under one-party rule.

Second, one-party rule...kind of like Massachusetts, where the legislature is about 90 per cent Democrat and both Senators and all 10 Congressmen are Democrats?

He must get along well with former Burlington VT mayor,
and now "independent" (yeah, right) Congressman
Bernie Sanders (I-Ben and Jerry's)
True, and I'll bet he gets along well with The Former Twelfth Lady (when there are no reporters or microphones around).
