No details yet, but KFI just gave a very brief report on their bottom of the hour news. Chris Penn, brother of Sean Penn, has been reported dead by the LAPD.
"We get Drudge overdose on here, I think you mean drug.:P"
Oops. Yeah, drug overdose.
He will be missed and his talents will be missed as well.
I'm not a religious man, so I won't offer prayers to the family. In fact, on any normal day, I'd like to knock Sean Penn's teeth down his throat. But on this day, my heart and thoughts are with Sean and the rest of Chris' love ones. It brings a tear to my eye, as merely an observer, to think that Chris Penn is gone for good. I can only imagine what it must be like for people that knew and loved him.
His dad, Leo, died in 1998. Was he someone involved in the McCarthy hearings?
His other brother is Micheal Penn, and his biography says he is a musician and was also in the movie Boogie Nights.
Leo Penn (August 27, 1921 September 5, 1998) was an American actor and Emmy Award-winning director of such popular television shows as "St. Elsewhere", "Kojak" and "Trapper John, M.D.". He was married to Eileen Ryan, and is the father of singer Michael Penn and actors Sean Penn and Chris Penn.
Penn was born in Lawrence, MA in 1921. In the late 1940s, during the early part of his career, film studio executives placed Leo Penn on the Hollywood blacklist after he attended a pro-union meeting with other actors. Penn refused to testify to the house of Un-American activities during the McCarthy era. Unable to work in film, Penn turned to Broadway where the Actors' Equity Association had refused to go along with the ban. In 1954, he won the Theatre World Award for his performance in the play "The Girl on the Via Flaminia".
He died of lung cancer at the age of 77 on died September 5, 1998 in Los Angeles, California.
"I was curious that the report didn't say hit by car or shot or something else."
The ABC report William posted above indicated he died inside of a residence. Therefore, probably not hit by a car, and probably not shot, but the latter certainly feasible, considering the location of death.
This is from ABC.com in Los Angeles.
Doesn't sound like his place. Tia's?
I didn't hear KFI say where he died, only that he was dead.
He was in two movies that will be released this year.
I remember Chris Penn most of all from "Footloose".
My GF and I watched that. I think Todd Bridges got robbed. Who is that little weezle judge? What a pill.
He played the cop.
He got beaten uuuuup.
I agree. Prayers for the family.
Wow
Prayers for the family.
I may not care for Sean Penn's politics or antics, but losing a son and brother is a painful thing for anyone.
May God comfort them and ease their sorrow.
A shame.
Rest in peace.
I'll ask my wife if she feels the same.
Do you recall Tai's partner? A Goulett?
More importantly, what is KFI? And what do we need to to to end this epidemic of KFI deaths? And is it Bush's fault?
No, I think she was hooked up with Bruce Jenner. He has had more plastic surgery than you can imagine.
