I am one that has never believed that OBL was dead. Whenever I see someone saying that "He's dead." There has always been something in me that has said, "Oh, no, he is not dead."
As you know I fit that category (and said that I was wrong). Although, I'm still skeptical that obl is alive. Tapes, video can be doctored. I'm REAL skeptical that Zawahiri is still sucking O2. You would think al-Qaeda would want to rush out a video of the Z-man. Nothing yet. Maybe we should start a pool. But you have to be of the mindset that until I see their heads on pikes will I know for sure. (Or some remnant DNA will do)

I'm heading upstairs for a while. Love ya'. BBL
BTW, today is very overcast, NOT a good day here for hang gliding.
I know I shouldn't say anything, but JT you listen to your mother.
I just had to say that. 8^)

Excellent advice, Miss Marple. I do believe you really are a political operative. Hah! At least you are "our" political operative".
With all the media attention showered on the son when the story first broke, why are they not doing a much more interesting follow up? Or at least mention that the first story turns out to have been false.
I would like to know whether any law enforcement and/or HomeLand Security is investigating this whole family. Do you know of any way to find out?
I think if you sent an e-mail to Homeland Security and your state FBI, it MIGHT get attention. Or, if there's a way to send a question to the blog owner (is that Steve Emerson's blog?) and ask if he knows whether law enforcement is aware of this matter, that might be a better way to go.
Emerson has been on top of the jihadists in this country, is the first person the FBI called after 9/11, and if it's his blog, he'd probably answer you.
As to the media, they seem to have quit doing investigative work some years ago, especially as it relates to the war on terror. It's very troubling to me on what they don't report, almost more than what they do erroneously report.
Why do you think, CM? For the same reason, why isn't the MSM BLASTING and BLASTING and SCREAMING and BLASTING hillXXX's HORRIBLY RACIST "plantation" crap and nagin's HORRIBLY RACIST "chocolate" HATRED ALL over the airwaves????
Of course, You and we know the answer. They SO HATE President Bush and everything he and we conservatives stand for that it would show them as they truly are.
thanks for posting the link to the REAL Farris story. I'm so busy I'd have never found it myself.
It's raining here and I'd better go get dressed up and ready for a horde of people to descend on the house with their wet shoes and eating and drinking their way through everything as fast as they can.
Sometimes these people act like they're starving and haven't seen food in two weeks. LOL
Can you tell I'm not really in the mood to entertain tonight? I'd rather listen to music with my husband nad read a good book.
OH! I hear ya, Peach! I am such a fan of relaxing evenings at home. You are just such a great hostess that you HAVE to have parties! Would love to be at your party. I have a date and I wish I could bring her to your party! We're going to see Glory Road.
Oh, Two Thirds - have a wonderful time tonight! I hope she's someone special :-)
I still like Molly Hennenburg for you; she seems like such a genuine and good person. Pretty as a picture, too :-)
I don't know that I'm such a good hostess as it's "my turn" so to speak. Most of us are retired and we spend far too much time eating, imo, and some of them drinking. If Mr P and I have 3 glasses of wine a month, that's a lot. So being around some people who drink too much isn't fun, if you know what I mean. Not that anybody gets really drunk at this age, but they do tend to talk. And talk. Etc.
"Greetings from Kuwait! Since I have not written to you in awhile I would like to send my belated Christmas and New Year wishes to each of you. The last time I wrote a newsletter we were just recovering from Hurricane Katrina and getting re-started on our training at Camp Shelby. Since then a lot has happened. Most of you probably know our current situation as you have been getting updates from the Commander on a regular basis, as well as from your soldiers. Since our last update we continued to improve our condition here, as we work toward our third month in country. As you know, we have a variety of missions and I want you to know that all of your soldiers are conducting themselves in an exemplary and professional manner. I am proud to serve with all of these soldiers and each day I am thankful that I have the opportunity to serve here with them.
(He goes on to describe their main mission in detail, and then continues)
As for other missions we have, they are going very well. We are much more focused than when we were first learning what our role from the preceding unit. The leaders of each platoon and squad have taken charge of their soldiers and have developed standing operating procedures for patrolling and training that have allowed the soldiers more Sergeant's Time" than they had initially. This has improved the physical well being of each soldier as well as allowed for more team cohesion among platoons. I am very happy with their efforts in this area and I think the soldiers are as well. As for the missions themselves, we are constantly improving our operating procedures and the soldiers have had opportunity to experience and learn much of the landscape. The type of patrols as well as the composition and specific mission that each platoon may have varies as we avoid routines, however, know that our soldiers are adapting to the changes and conducting their specific missions with 100% effort and to this point 100% success.
MWR events on this camp are fairly regular. In the months of December and in early January we had visits from two separate USO tours. In the ******** camps, like ours, there are not as many events as in the ******** camps, but it seems like the frequency of them is starting to pick up. I guess time will tell as that may have been just a Christmas season thing. As for the long lines that you have probably heard about, they arent quite as bad as they were after Thanksgiving and before Christmas. There are still a good number of soldiers here but not near the number that we had at that time. There are still lines though and I expect that will be the case for most of the deployment.
Last, I want to thank all of you for the support you have given us during this deployment. Please keep the letters, cards, packages and treats coming. They are a welcome sight to the soldiers. I appreciate all that you are doing in supporting your soldiers. It makes life a little easier for them while they are here. Thank you all again and know that your soldiers are doing an outstanding job of representing themselves and this unit. You should all be proud of them."
Well, if Molly is interested, so am I! I'm afraid she has was too many guys with lots of hair, money, status and youth to pick from. Not to mention rocket and spacecraft engineers are not exactly Don Juans for the most part. Not to say that Molly places high priority on all this stuff over personality, but I'm not real optomistic. If you want to set me up with her, I'm game! :))
LOL. It sounds like you're too hard on yourself. My husband is good looking to me, but I doubt to many others. But he's the nicest man in the world and once women get to know him, they think he's just a doll.
Smart women, and I'll bet Molly is as smart as she is sweet, figure that out.
Anyway, you know you're always welcome here - with or without a date. Just be yourself and have fun tonight. We want a full report in the morning :-)
And now I'd really better go get ready or I'll be the only person wearing sneakers. hehehe
Can you post a little review of Glory Road after you have seen it? Don Haskins was the coach of UTEP for many years, he was in the WAC conference with BYU and was known as the Bear. We watched him coach many games against BYU.
Vice President Dick Cheney also made a late appeal for Lott to reverse his earlier decision to retire.
I think this says that Lott has gotten Bush's support to be majority leader in the next Senate. Lott was not going to run again just to be another Senator.
It may also mean that Frist now has enough votes to do the nuclear option.
If he does, then some say the Democrats will not filibuster Alito. I don't see what is in that for Democrats. If Frist does the nuclear option and then gets all the stalled Bush nominees confirmed in hours .. so what. The other option to prevent the nuclear option is for Democrats not only to fold on Alito but on all those other nominees. If Democrats tried to filibuster again they would just get the nuclear option pulled on one of the other appeals court judicial nominees.
I am still not sure that the Democrats will not filibuster Alito. They may figure that they can play the Nuclear option game to their advantage once they are back in power.
I feel certain that were the rolls reversed the Democrats would not hesitate a second to do the nuclear option. And if they don't force Republicans to do the nuclear option for Alito... they will have to fold on lots of other nominees. So from their standpoint there is little to be gained by avoiding the Nuclear option.. If the result is the same ether way, they could count on the media playing the story as bad Republicans doing the nuclear option. That would make it a lot easier for Democrats to use the nuclear option once they are in power.
I don't have any inside information.. but I think Bush finally gave in to Lott's demands. If so, the chances of tax cuts and a lot more making it through the Senate in this session looks much improved.
It will be interesting to watch. It appears to me that the 55 Democratic senators may start acting more like an organized unit rather than a family feud. Lott at his press conference announcing his run for reelection said he would do all he could to see that Senator Frist succeeded.
If we see leaked stories about Frist just being a front man and Lott calling the shots we will know what is going on.
Have fun at your party. I'm just getting ready to go to our party this evening. We are soooo excited. I talked to my mom yesterday and I think she's gotten a whiff of what is going to happen. She was "I thought we were just going to have dinner..."
My sister the photographer scanned 74 family slides in for the evening. She also scanned in 6 slides of my parents' wedding. The wedding cake is just gorgeous, it cost $11. How times have changed.
It will be interesting to watch. It appears to me that the 55 Democratic senators
You meant Republican. Good analysis...
