I get those awful sinus headaches behind the eyes! Does the alfalfa really work? Do you find it in the vitamin aisle or do you have to go to one of those GNC type places?

I have one too, and it is SO not stopping me from my life. I sound congested and feel under the weather but I have been able to stay busy all 3 days. Why? I believe it is the Sambucol. I learned about it on FR, reading one of the Bird Flu threads. I got curious and wanted to learn more. I have 3 boys, and anything natural that is a proven anti-viral sounded worth at least trying.

Sambucol is elderberry extract. You can buy it online or at any health food store. It's in a bottle like cough syrup. There is nothing in it but the elderberry extract and sweetener, I think. No alcohol.

It has been proven as effective as Tamiflu in some clinical studies. It's made in Israel.

We have experimented with it all winter now. When there is a virus in the house, we take one dose (for adults, 2 tbsp) a day. When you yourself feel the first symptom of a cold, up that to 3x a day. It seems to make the cold either not show up, or show up so mild it's amazing. That is happening to me right now.

Instead of going through 2 Kleenex boxes as usual, I have used maybe 6 total Kleenexes. That means less problems with coughing later on. I don't think I have coughed at all.

I was doubtful of the antiviral properties but it seems to be working for me and my kids.

Well, here is the popular folk remedy from a faraway land for you. It has been successfully tried by untold millions.
1. Take a vodka bottle (standard soviet 500ml size). The bottle ought to be full.
2. Drink about 350ml from it. Food intake is permitted and even encouraged in moderation. DO NOT sleep on your back just in case you might puke [per screen-name], for there have been numerous cases of people dying from suffocation on vomit masses.
3. Next morning use the remaining 150ml in the bottle to drink your hangover [if you have one] down - and you are like new.

Isn't it amazing (Sambucol)? I have never had a OTM work as well for a cold as this stuff. Each time we go back to buy more, I end up taking the last 2 or 3 bottles on the shelf, too. People are discovering this! It's our first cold season trying it out.

I can't get over how well it works. He's cautioned me to be very careful about taking too many as they've dried him up too much. Bottle says 2 tabs three times a day.

Sometimes I've had to take Motrin or something with them, but many, many times the alfalfa has just made it disappear.

I also put Ben-Gay on the back of my neck sometimes. I got desperate one day and that REALLY helped when the headache went beyond awful.
