You're looking at the wrong chart. Sunday was when it won all the awards at the Golden Globes, and it was the weekdays that followed when BBM became #1.

Wait and see what happens after the weekend. Not very many people go to the movies on Tuesday and Wednesday, imo.

The truth is that most of America is turned-off by Hollywood's insane leftism. Revenues were down again in 2005: -8%. Between lousy movies and technology's ability to deliver to people what they want, Hollywood is on that long slide to oblivion.

Actually, that's not true at all. I would argue Hollywood has never been healthier. (That's not to say Hollywood is putting out anything I particularly like) .

Looking only at domestic box office is an entirely antiquated way of judging success (even though movie studios would like you to believe otherwise). Besides domestic box office receipts, there's also: foreign reciepts, DVD sales, merchandising, selling the rights to HBO, Cinemax, etc, selling rights for pay-per-view, and -- the big money-maker -- selling rights to TNT, CBS, ABC, FX, etc.

Don't believe for a second that Hollywood's not raking in more money than ever. (But they're still putting out crap).
