and by the way, BoxofficeMojo says bareback mountain was ranked 9th in box office receipts last weekend. #1? The MSM is full of crap as usual.
You're looking at the wrong chart. Sunday was when it won all the awards at the Golden Globes, and it was the weekdays that followed when BBM became #1.

The one that's in trouble is Munich. Raised half of its production costs so far. Still has the international market to go.

MSM is bending over backwards to promote this travesty. It is simply mind-boggling the amount of press this movie has received. Locally, this movie has seen the front page of a section of our paper more than once.
I will not at all be suprised to see this movie get one or more Academy "awards". This is an agenda-driven movie.

Gay sheepherders? Man, that's b*a*a*a*a*a*a*d! Tell me, do gay sheepherders prefer male or female sheep? Or do they herd gay sheep? This deviancy thing can be so confusing...

I'm sure there are a lot of sick queers out there - having consumed their 10th bag of popcorn while sitting through the 10th showing of this piece of trash. How many times have they employed the Diner "popcorn trick" in those theaters?

It is more fun watching the "It is a great suckess" crowd trying to convince folks that an anomaly on two WEEKDAYS means the fans are flocking to see this crap.

A total of $740,000 a day for two days from 648 theaters makes it a "solid #1"?
Wow, what did the #2 movie net per day? Six bucks?
When you're used to seeing earnings in the tens of thousands per day AND UP for REAL blockbuster movies....
This review of the gay sheepherders sounds a LOT like the latest Binny tape: "He's dead, Jim, but we'll do our darndest to keep him kicking to keep the crew happy"

Just an observation: It was number one on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Wait and see what happens after the weekend. Not very many people go to the movies on Tuesday and Wednesday, imo.
I have NEVER seen these ways of measuring popularity of a film. Ever. Perhaps I missed something.

I think the gay ones probably go for the out hole, so male or female sheep would make no difference, but a good rear kick by the sheep would do wonders as they rape it.

Who is lining up to see this movie?
A bunch of queers.

Variety abbreviates everything. It's short for cumulative earnings. At least one would hope that it is. :=)

This title is a story of Universal going bonkers with public relations and paid fawners on the internet and elsewhere.
I now completely agree that Universal's as evil as are the Weinstein's.
O.K., that's treading on dangerous ground to admit that. So, sue me.

The truth is that most of America is turned-off by Hollywood's insane leftism. Revenues were down again in 2005: -8%. Between lousy movies and technology's ability to deliver to people what they want, Hollywood is on that long slide to oblivion. Actually, that's not true at all. I would argue Hollywood has never been healthier. (That's not to say Hollywood is putting out anything I particularly like) .
Looking only at domestic box office is an entirely antiquated way of judging success (even though movie studios would like you to believe otherwise). Besides domestic box office receipts, there's also: foreign reciepts, DVD sales, merchandising, selling the rights to HBO, Cinemax, etc, selling rights for pay-per-view, and -- the big money-maker -- selling rights to TNT, CBS, ABC, FX, etc.
Don't believe for a second that Hollywood's not raking in more money than ever. (But they're still putting out crap).

The public response to the 'Happy Meal' toys will be interesting. I wonder who bought the rights to the video game?
