There are either moral absolutes or there are none.

Of course there are moral absolutes. Murder is always wrong and evil. Same with rape or assault. Going into a sex store is not even remotely the same thing. What if the guy going in is buying lingerie for his wife? I'm sure he deserves to have his picture in the local paper for his "sin".

Porn is a destructive force. Many Freepers are justifying it. Yuk.

Exactly. But it is good to see a few on here who are willing to stand up for what is right.

How anyone can look at porn and not think of all the children that are harmed by it is beyond me.

Who this THEY, you speak about?

The same "they you spoke about as in: They should be more than embarrassed, they should be furious

How do you know what other people want?

Same way you do: They should be more than embarrassed, they should be furious

Why would you be so embarrassed to walk into an adult store?

This isn't about me. Remember your admonition in post 142 Please try to answer without changing the subject..

Would you be worried that people like you would think you were immoral for going into an adult store?

This isn't about me. And remember your post 142: Please try to answer without changing the subject.

I'm sorry that you can't answer my post 169 but that IS the patrons objection. They DON'T want anyone to know they are there.

You can't say it, can you? So I will. They DON'T want ANYONE to know they are there. Why not? If it's ok then what's the big deal?

That is it in a nutshell. If they are proud of what they are doing, they shouldn't mind their picture on a website or what-have-you.

Yes, and women too.

Degrading in the max to women.

Shocked that Freepers can justify it to this extreme.

Good for Baldwin.

Did I liken them? No. you did.

What if the guy going in is buying lingerie for his wife?

Try again. Lame excuse as Victorias Secret has better stuff AND you can order from lots of places online but if your wife buys that excuse fine.

I'm sure he deserves to have his picture in the local paper for his "sin".

If there's nothing wrong with being there, why be ashamed?!

I've heard that one of the Baldwin brothers is a conservative...I don't think it's this one but rather the one that is/was on Firefly...(hope so because I really liked the show/movie). The rest can suck eggs.

Not one of them that argues Baldwin is wrong can explain the shame factor. Talk about moral blindness and justification. If there's nothing wrong with it then their pic in the paper won't matter.

The difference is this: You are speaking about everyone in general when you indicate "they". I am speaking specifically about those who would have their photos taken and published implying they are immoral persons. Try to make a cogent argument rather than nitpicking and parsing. Bad form.

No. You lost. And you don't like it. People don't want anyonre to know they are there. And that's why YOU object to the pics.

It is just good to know that there is still some shame involved in participating in this type of activity. However, it is slowly becoming more mainstream. Hopefully, we can continue to push against the tide.

Anyone who visits these types of places is being immoral.

"THEY" are the same people and you can't obfuscate the issue by talking in circles.

"Shocked that Freepers can justify it to this extreme."

I've been following this post and fail to see anyone justifying porn as a good thing or to any extreme. Personally, I wish it would disappear. Baldwin's tactic of photographing patrons of an adult store and publishing these photos with the implication that these people are immoral is in itself shameful and possibly actionable.

I applaud Mr. Baldwin's actions and would do the same thing if it were in my community. However, I live in a community where this type of business would NEVER be tolerated.

or to any extreme

The number of posts attacking Baldwin and justifying the behavior of the porn frequenters is extreme IMO.

The numbers of those consuming porn has grown astronomically contributing to the breakdown of families.

Good for Baldwin as a private citizen for taking action in his neighborhood.

What's funny is admitting it but not admitting it. They acknowledge being shamed but justify their anger at being exposed by saying shaming them is immoral. *rolling eyes* Won't work.

Activism for social change by a citizen who happens to be Christian should not be criticized--it is everyone's right--neither should it be mixed-up as being the primary commission of the Church.

I object to people like you and Baldwin who think it is OK to photograph strangers entering adult stores and then publishing these photos with the implication that these people are immoral or of bad character. Neither you nor Baldwin knows the reason people go into the store.

Suppose, for example, the business owner calls an accountant to come to the business for consulting and this accountant later finds his photo on some website or paper implying that he is immoral for visiting this business. Who is going to explain this to his family, friends, or clients who do not know he was only there for business? Suppose you were that accountant. What would you do?
