Are you there, God? It's us, the Steelers
By Eric Heyl TRIBUNE-REVIEW Wednesday, January 18, 2006
As overtaxed as God has been lately, something was bound to slip His mind. That's not a bad thing for Steelers fans. The black and gold wouldn't be playing for the AFC Championship in Denver this Sunday were it not for the Supreme Being's uncharacteristic forgetfulness.
Don't take it from me. Take it from the folks who are more familiar with His crazy, frantic, forced-to-TiVo "Lost" schedule of late -- or at least those who claim to be.
According to them, God has been booked solid for months with all sorts of wrathful engagements.
Let's begin with Hurricane Katrina, which leveled New Orleans in August, and Hurricane Rita, which pummeled the Gulf Coast a month later.

Well said.
The refs had it covered when they gave a Superbowl to Pittsburg instead of Dallas in the 70's, and they made sure to screw Dallas out of their third consecutive Superbowl in the '95 NFC championship game. As a CB for the Niners, Neon Deion slapped both of Michael Irvin's arms out of the way of a pass, killing the Cowboy's comeback (no call). I was all for the Colts winning it all this year, unless they met my Cowboys (who would have been lucky to be there) in the big one. The refs and the Steelers tried to hand that game to the Colts on a platter, and they did not deserve to win that way. The Colts earned their wins in the regular season.
You must have been drinking. It was Manning who was given a pass on the INT that would have ended the game earlier. The Steelers showed up to play and the Colts did not.
I am glad they lost after I saw Manning's classless interview after the game deriding his line. Suck it up whiner you lost 14-2 does not guarantee anytihng if you forget to play every game after the regular season.
Just as the PATS gots screwed on the interference call which I think locked the game for the Broncos.
All in all it was the worst year of officiating I have seen in a long time.
"...All in all it was the worst year of officiating I have seen in a long time...."
I'll second that. BTW, how many times was the "Roy Williams" rule called? You know, the one that came about because of the way Williams tackled Terrell Owens and screwed up his knee. I believe it was called once in all the games I saw this year. And there was plenty of times it should have been called. The conference championships and Super Bowl will be fun to watch for all the bogus calls and non-calls that's just waiting to be made.
I feel sorry for the Steelers knees this weekend because Denver is going to have fun doing what they do and you know what im talking about. :D
This columnist is a liberal turd, but the Steelers dominated the Colts in that game and deserved to win and Cowher will go on to finally win his SB.
It gets funnier. Archie called out the WR, too, for not being where they were supposed to be.
of course, you would also be able to thank Barry Switzer for getting a 15 yd personal foul call which killed ANOTHER Dallas drive in that game.....
