Had Jake Plummer come along at a different time, it wouldn't be difficult imagining him driving a decorated Volkswagen bus, wearing a tie-dyed shirt, sporting long hair and a scruffy beard, picking up buddies across the country on his way to Woodstock.
No, that wouldn't be a fair vision.
*************
The other day, Plummer was waiting to order his dinner at Qdoba when he noticed a little girl smiling at him.
"I look over at her and I said, 'Hey, what are you getting?"' Plummer said. "And she just laughed. For me to evoke that kind of response of that little kid, gosh, man.
"Some guy wrote an article saying I'm not good enough to take this team all the way. Does what that guy wrote matter when I just made this little girl's day?"

Nice enough to handle a loss to the Steelers next Sunday.
Better believe that.
"She was a big influence on all of us. I was lucky enough to get to know my grandparents very, very well. Today, a lot of kids don't get grandparent-time. Whether it's grandparents are going to Arizona for the winter or to get away from everybody. It's just not like that anymore. There still is some. We were lucky to have our grandparents. I owe a lot of what I am today to them."

Solid guy................
Read the entire article. He's a really nice guy!
Man, if I posted this to "Current Events" I wou;d be SOOOO outtta here for the next two weeks!
At least Plummer can grow a beard. Jen Rothlisberger grows a middle school one. :P
You should be out of here just for your spelling.
;-)
Yeh, Ben's sister's beard looks pretty rank.
What a sweetheart! He won't be such a softie next weekend though - gonna pound those steelers right into the mud! GO BRONCS! I luv ya Jake!
Have another drink on me.
Ben Roethlisberger.............
E...U... O... N... Y... M!!! Euonym!!!
Hey, I love the guy too. But, he's going to be in big trouble on Sunday.
Only two games left until Mediocrity in Motown. Can we get the Red Sox to send the equipment truck down to Ft. Myers now so we don't have to go through five weeks of Bruins talks?
Home schooled????
I'll be a good sport about it! I'll reimburse you for the box of kleenex your gonna use up PLUS I'll buy you a six pack of beer to drown your sorrows in after the Steelers get their hineys tanned! Sound okay to you? :)
Judging by the hangtime, if I'm the dejected kid sitting in the backround, I demand a urine test before I let her collect her trophy.
In this day and age of te "million dollar athletes", it is really nice to read about one of them that has his head on straight, and knows from whence he came. His heroes are his family, and that is as good as it will ever be. Thanks for sharing this great story with us. The NFL needs a lot more men like him, than what they seem to have now. Forget the NBA as they will never recover their luster from years past due to the players and the troubles they have.
"hang time" ----- ROFL!!!!!
Judging by the # of contestants, not much competition there either.
;-)
I did. He seems like a well grounded nice guy.
