I've said it before: In Frank Capra's day, Hollywood was just as dirty, but they knew who paid the bills and had the stars under their thumbs. "Press agents" went around and made sure that if Agnes Moorehead was a lesbian, you didn't hear about it. They produced Biblical epics because that sold in the Midwest, and the movie business then was a business, all about making what people wanted to buy.

Today? It's all about impressing your peers in the little pocket Hell called Hollywood. And they wonder why receipts are going down...down...down.

Why Endora, I would have never suspected it of you.

Excellent points, dad. Certainly food for thought, thanks.

Well said and true. What these people did in their private lives was never an issue for me. From my youth through my maturity I always enjoyed their product and spent my money (I'm 62).

Today, instead, it's a different story. I'd still feel the same if they'd 1) Keep their mouths shut; 2) Keep their immoralities to themselves; 3)Provided a product worth seeing. They don't follow any of these ethical or rational business practices, however, and the wife and I have been a 'no show' at theaters since 1990.

Oops, gotta run - need to crank up the DVD recorder and see what's on the Westerns Channel and TCM!

I think they actually fancy themselves to be true artistes. They are so full of themselves, they actually think they are making enduring works of art.
It's a true closed circle of movie makers, critics, press and adorers. They completely close out their audience... after all Michael Moore summed it up when he said all Americans were stupid.
That IS exactly the mainstream belief in Hollyweird. They will have to take in the shorts (financially) in a big way (bankruptcy) before they will realize their folly.
