ESPN.com news services Jan. 14 - The Buffalo Bills received permission late Friday to interview Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Sean Payton, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Saturday.
Bills defensive coordinator Jerry Gray and Detroit Lions interim coach Dick Jauron are in the mix but the favorite is Jim Haslett, the former New Orleans Saints coach and one-time Bills linebacker.
Bills general manager Marv Levy, who himself has been regarded as a potential replacement, plans to issue a statement ruling himself out of the Bills' search, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Saturday.
"Obviously, I have great interest in the job," Haslett told the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle on Friday. "First of all, I have great personal feelings for the organizations because I played there and still know people who work there, and I have admiration for Mr. Wilson.
"It's a great organization, but I understand there's a process. they have their own agenda. We'll have to wait and see."
The Bills are looking for a new head coach after Mike Mularkey abruptly resigned Friday.
Please, Please Please, Please Please, Please hire Sean Payton, oh Please!!!!
what reason did Malarkey give for suddenly resigning?
I am just hearing about this- LOL- I am about a week behind in news, I guess
Take Peyton and maybe the Boys can get a GOOD offensive cordinator. One that has an offense where the receivers catch the ball on the move and not hanging out at a spot with about 3 defensive gus there also. Take him, please!!!!
Have you ever been in Buffalo in January?
LOL- I LIVE here- I just have been radio and TV free for about a week

I would be curious to how much it has to do with Levy being hired intothe front office. Maybe Malarkey felt he would have a reduction in responsibility with Levy around.
Weren't happy with his play calling?
B'flo Ping
Not really, especially in the Oakland game, which they could have won.
