Das Boot gives me the screaming willies. Going to sea is treacherous enough... but there's something unnatural about ships that sink on purpose. Thousands of years of continually improved boat design... to prevent that very thing.

I'm not even claustrophobic or anything, but I just don't see how those submarine guys do it. Maybe being on a boomer would be OK, where you just run away and hide and play cards... but this bidness of depth charges and torpedoes...? Nope. I want to at least be able to float away when the boat sinks.

Yeah, it was vey intense, especially since this one was a old diesel boat and vey small. I think I remember hearing in the commentary that Das Boot was the very first movie that Jurgen Prochnow dubbed in English for his part. He is such a good actor.
