Messenger was already disabled and I didn't have the option to "stop"

Clare encountered something like this on SirKit's laptop last week. It isn't the one he uses for work, and it only has the basic Norton Anti-Virus program on it. He checked when he got home and I think he found that folks were finding some sort of bug in the basic Norton program. His work one had some super duper Norton program that doesn't have the bugs. He's already left for Mass, but I can have him look at your problem when he gets home, if Bear, Rose or Ramius haven't figured it out yet.

Sorry I can't help much... the site I linked to was the only one I found that mentions any fix.
