Heh, they didn't have Engaged Encounters when we were planning to be married, though we did go to a day long meeting at Loyola in NO that we enjoyed immensely.

We went on a Marriage Encounter Weekend about 15 or 20 years ago. GAK! It was awful! We are just not into the self navel-gazing required at those things. A weekend spent away from the family taking long walks in the woods, or even kayaking on a lake would be much more enjoyable and useful to a healthy marriage than being 'encouraged' to gaze into each other's eyes and write how you feel. I don't mind doing those things, I just don't like the idea of doing it 'on demand'.

So there's my rant. But we haven't done too badly without all that, since we've been married over 30 years!
