The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Big'ol sez that the odds that he is Catholic are higher than if he was of another profession. Service-oriented professions such as law enforcement and the military tend to attract Catholics. Over half the Generals in the Army are Catholic.

I agree...if the guy is unscrupulous, you don't want him around.

Actually he was a little on the older side anyway.

Define "older". "Older" men can be quite a catch.

It was funny that he made me stop talking... I started saying that we (Rosie) was just moving in, and yes, there had been a lot of garbage hauled from here recently by a guy the landlord hired... I started to defend the landlord, saying "maybe the handyman dude ripped him off on dump fees" he said "OK - I get it... don't say anything else... if the landlord asks me, I won't tell him you said anything..."

I haven't seen 24 so I don't know much about him, but wouldn't it be really hard to spend quality time with a guy like that?

Yah, can be true.

Honestly, I don't really remember! I was just a bit bewildered by the whole incident at the time.

Jack Bauer doesn't pay dump fees.

Heh...you'd be surprised at how many "moments" are worked in.

It's a little stressful for the watchers, though, 'cause we're thinking "You guys don't have TIME FOR THIS!!! The world is going to END if you don't stop the sweet talkin' and get back to WORK!!"

made a point of saying "Don't say anything else... you guys don't know anything about this, I was never here"

If he says something along the lines of "Trust me!" or, "I need your help!", duck.

You bat your eyelashes, smile, and say, "I'm (or "My friend Rosie is") new around here ... do you know if there's an active Catholic church nearby?"

He'll probably include his own religious affiliation in his answer. "Well, I'm _______ ..."

He was foine, hmmm? A nice ourdoorsy man?

Evening G'nad; the piano is picture perfect in your home. Won't be long before the 'hills are alive with the sound of music'.

Enjoyed your visit tremendously, our only wish was it could have been longer and your fine family had been able to join you on your 'trip to ~ town~. OB & LSA

Heh...we had a good-bye dinner for the boss who's taking a gig in Germany.

We went to Olive Garden and I'm still stuffed. Guess I shouldn't have had that Black Tie Chocolate Mousse Cake thingy for dessert.

Might have a salad a little later on. Meanwhile, I got another catalogue from Burpee. Just what I needed after that wad I've already spent on 'em.
