A quick note to let you know the new knife arrived. Once again, I am exceptionally pleased to receive it. I have an appreciation for knives and this one is a true beauty! I have shown all of my friends and already placed this wonderful new CRKT in my uniform pocket.
Thank you for the thoughtful selection and quick ship. V/R,
Mark

Oh, yeah, the Asshat
No! That was the problem! My dad doesn't tolerate general anesthesia at all! He can only have it if absolutely necessary and it has to be done under very controlled conditions with lots of support staff in case he goes in to respiratory arrest.
He's had abdomenal surgery in the past with just a spinal because he just can not tolerate general anesthesia
These guys told my parents that the procedure wasn't done using a general, then for some reason they gave him in a general! In an "outpatient" setting!! I still don't know why they did it but it sounds like it was done by mistake, or they thought my mom wasn't serious about it or something.
Then he just cratered in the clinic and they had to take him to the hospital.
My dad is in very good physical health...he plays golf every day and is very active. But due to his polio, his respiratory system can't handle generals. Actually, if he hadn't been in such good health otherwise, it probably would've killed him.
I nearly died when I heard they'd given him a general. I couldn't believe my ears. When Steve came in from Stillwater, and I told him, he couldn't believe *his* ears! We were just amazed that they did it! How stupid!!!
Anyway, I kinda forgot about Steve, due to all this...but he did all his exit stuff, went over the checklist of things that he has to complete with the secretary. Went over some more stuff he has to do for the thesis, he's going to work tomorrow to work on it. Turned in the proposal I helped him write to the Dean. Haven't heard anything yet. He thinks the worst case scenario would be that they would make him take two hours this summer before they let him graduate. He would be done with the thesis this semester, done with all required classes as of last semester and would get to walk in the ceremony this May. But he'll just have to take those two hours.
I'm hoping the Dean will let him go ahead and sign up for them *this* semester and get them done.
Oh ROSIE!! You're new home looks GREAT!
Post more pictures so I can get a better idea of the rest of the place!
Post more pictures!!
I love to look at happy people!
Thankfully, for both our boys, we were able to avoid the BIG graduation ceremony. At UMass Amherst, the Commonwealth College, which is the honors group, had it's own recognition ceremony two weeks before the regular graduation. At that time, the graduates were announced individually, and each walked across the stage and received a special gold cord to wear on their gowns at graduation. Since they were in gowns for this, we asked Paul if we could just attend that one, take pictures, and call it his graduation. He was fine with that; in fact, he didn't even go to the big one. At the time, he worked part time for the local transit system driving buses. He was able to make some extra money that day driving shuttle buses for folks parking at the outlying lots so they could get to the stadium. He graduates from Law School on Mother's Day, and we're planning to be there!
At Carnegie Mellon, the Computer Science Department had it's own 'Graduation Ceremony' in the afternoon after the big one on campus. At the big one, they just called out each 'school' and all of those graduates stood in a group. At the small one, each graduate got his or her name announced and got to walk across the stage. It was very special, because the one who did the announcing was their Class Advisor, and he knew each graduate personally, and gave a little statement about each one that was positive or humorous or both.
Heh heh...yep...if he wants to do the ceremony, he'll have to do the big "walk across the stage in a cap, gown and hood" thing.
I'm personally looking forward to the jedis seeing it. It should be impressive to them and something they'll always remember. Dad done with school...he's gone to school all their lives just about.
Of course, I'll take pictures...
He's the Missouri coach who just resigned so he wouldn't get fired. Played for Dook. I don't pull for Dookies.
Okay, so I went out. Was running low on potting soil and cat food. On the way, I stopped at this consignment shop and picked up some metal shelves for plants in TheSunRoom.
Ahhh, the doookie connection. I understand now. :-)
I sure got tired of hearing about 'quin' on the news during my commute. BLAH, BLah, blah.
Way to go, I was out for a bit myownself; even got a lottery ticket. The ticket guy was looking a bit frazzled. Potting soil, cat food, shelves, hmmm. No Bailey's?
Anyway, the shelves are that verdigris color with a leaf pattern. Maybe I should have gotten one of those topiaries....for the kudzu.
Trying to decide if I want to watch Pink Panther tonight or not.
Frodo done sailed off into the west...
That said, cable is goobered up in the living room. I think it's 'cause that's the TV that gets moved back and forth between the LR and theoffice. It's on a cart, but the DVD converter keeps falling off, so I think the cable is just plain tired. Will get a new one tomorrow. Not goin' back out again tonite, although the weather has cleared.
Shelves sound like they will work out just fine. We'll probably check out the limpics later tonite.
"Does your dog bite?" heh,heh...
Steve's mom may come for a visit at the end of this month...gotta get the old computer room spiffed up. It's a wreck!
