Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And there are many paths to tread
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I like those, too. But Claussens are the best. Seriesly.
I want pickles...

A weekend spent away from the family taking long walks in the woods, or even kayaking on a lake would be much more enjoyable and useful to a healthy marriage than being 'encouraged' to gaze into each other's eyes and write how you feel. I don't mind doing those things, I just don't like the idea of doing it 'on demand'. Heh...that's about how my parents felt. Not to mention that as I recall, people sat in a circle and were supposed to talk TO one another, but in FRONT of everyone else. Ugh!

Heh, I think after the wedding we would prefer 'a weekend alone.'
The engaged encounter things is allowing us to do most the Catholic premarriage type meetings and counseling all compressed into one weekend. Since we are 'long distance' that is really helpful.

That's another brand?
I'm guessing there are different brands of all kinda stuff out here than we have at home. It'll be interesting to see the differences when I browse at the grocery.
To: Corin Stormhands
Ahem.
Don't even ~think~ about it.

It's a NC brand. I'm not sure how widespread they are. So far I haven't found them here.
*Sniff*
Now I want some Mt. Olive pickled okra.

If we are stuck doing crud like that there is no way I am going to be able to take it seriously. Makes me wish I could lie better with a straight face. Then I sit in front of everyone, look deep into her eyes, and tell her home much I look forward to ruling galaxy with her by my side.
Maybe I can anyway... I did manage to give the speech in college on why I should rule the Earth with a straight face.
To: RosieCotton
Hmmm......Mt. Olive pickled okra, Neese's liver pudding, Bass Farms sausage....
I think it's time to plan another trip home.

...why I should rule the Earth with a straight face. I dunno. I've always preferred the image of a Supreme Being who could crack a smile.

I was thinking less Supreme and more 'evil overlord'. Then again those always seem to have be ready with a laugh so maybe they are more cheerful that most people would think.
To: TalonDJ
LOL!
There's *no* telling what I would say!
I think you're doing good.
My church had a "dynamic marriage seminar" a couple of weeks ago (put on by the shrink I got in a fight with in Sunday School a few years back, which was before your time here in the Hole and another story completely) They announced it in Sunday School and right in front of everyone (and everyone knew of our fight) I said to Steve "If our marriage got any more dynamic, we'd explode."
Got a few chuckles.

I am sure there is stuff we have not really talked about much that could be good.Oh, I agree. It's best to get things talked out before the wedding! In fact, the couple leading the gathering in NO said that they liked pushing the couples to confront their differences. Better to get all that faced and call off a wedding than ignore problems until it's too late.
