Oh, that's excellent!
My yogurt turned out fantastic!! I learned the secret, I believe!
I heat the milk up to about 125 degrees, let it cool to 115-120 degrees, add the culture, stir gently but well, pour into the glasses, put lids in place, then place them in my ($1.50 thrift store) yogurt maker then put the lid on.
This is what I've always done, but most of the time the yogurt would be runny on top, firm on the bottom.
So this time I set my heating pad on low and placed it on top of the yogurt maker, then covered it all with a towel.
It turned out perfect. Absolutely perfect consistency through and through. It is still thinner than store-bought because I don't add thickeners, but that can be remedied by straining out the whey through a tea-towel and collander. Nonetheless, you can stand a spoon up in it!
The flavor is very very tart. I could probably culture it for less time and get a milder flavor, but I like a nice sharp yogurt!
Now I need some cucumbers to eat it with!

Yes, but does Rosie know what a Pippin is?

A cat.
2J, do you have a new address for him? I can get out a suitable replacement as soon as we get that.
How about that interview for you? Any details on it?
We went off on a furniture quest. First went to a garage sale and did really well - I got a short bookcase, a small chest of drawers, and a vacuum cleaner. The furniture isn't beautiful, but it's otherwise in really good shape. I'm thinking I may paint the chest of drawers and then do some cute stencils on it.
We also went by a place that had a free washer and dryer that they claimed were in good working condition, but they were outside and looked seriesly grungy. Maybe they were in good working condition when they set them out, but now...I gotta think no.
There are a few more things I'd like to look at - a free entertainment center and some livingroom furniture that is fairly inexpensive, but we'll see. A lot of things will have to wait until I have some income.
Keepin' my fingers crossed about the job interview...it would be nice if things happened that smoothly, but I can't quite imagine it. Not after a year of trying so hard and having so many letdowns...
Sounds like you got a lot accomplished today, chica!
Don't fret over the interview either. Just be confident and smile plenty.
You've already got the needed skills, so it's ~their~ gain to hire ~you~.
I *knew* you were out having a great time without me!
Hi - we're back! We were out at a garage sale buyin' some bargain stuff, and we went to look at a free Washer-Dryer that turned out to look like a bargain at all!
We still can't get in and really do much in the place next door 'cuz handy guy is working there, but we did talk to him about finishing up with unimportant things like painting in the areas we need to get to and focusing on the bathroom floor that really needs done now.
I think the handy guy kinda got Rosie down with some of the things he said... but I think he's over-reacting a little. We need to make sure though, and have someone look into the electrical, to make sure the place won't burn her up.
Now though, she's got to get herself in the right headspace for the interview!
Well, we knew that the place was gonna be a challenge and we *didn't* know that we were going have a handyman around fixing things up when we started, so already we're further ahead with the new place than we ever thought we'd be a couple of weeks ago or so!
Everything is ROSIE!

You're missing an absolutely dreary day of snow here - little tiny bits of snow that instantly make slush, no beauty in it at all.
I'm just easily freaked by safety type things...anything electrical or structural.
Not that there's much TO a trailer, structurally speaking, but...
Picking out clothes for the interview. Almost time to get dressed and all...
Meanwhile...it's a chilly but beautiful day here! Supposed to dip into the teens overnight for the next few days.
Yeah, it's supposed to be about 8 degrees here tonight. A good night for piling on the blankets.
We have some experience with over-reacting handyman-types!
