The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I read that Susan Sarandon carried one of the flags in the Opening Ceremony. Not sure which one; maybe Cuber! ;o) She many not be ugly like Yoko, but she's a hag, nonetheless.

I'm glad I didn't bother watching them. Maybe I'll check out the Giant Slalom later.

How revolting... haven't seen that (yet). May not stick around for it, either. :-)

OK... so the marching-in music has been a little odd. It's a very strange ode to 80's rock... at the Olympics... in Italy... I'm not getting it...

But you gotta admit:

When the U.S. team came in the music went to the great and wonderful "Aretha", doing "THINK". Wow.

You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free

Let's go back, let's go back, let's go way on back when I didn't even know you, you came to me and too much you wouldn't take
I ain't no psychiatrist, I ain't no doctor with degree It don't take too much high IQ's to see what you're doing to me

You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free

Oh freedom (freedom), freedom (freedom), freedom, yeah freedom
Freedom (freedom), freedom (freedom), freedom, ooh freedom

Karl Rove did that. Perfect... in so many ways. :-)

That's one of my favorite Aretha songs.

Hmmm....have Matt and Trey lampooned Yoko yet?

Yup, in episode 317 "The Worldwide Recorder Concert" (AKA "The Brown Noise")... Yoko and Kenny G are the concert coordinators.

Eeek! Snow! Have I got milk? Have I got bread?

Got muh coffee and I'm feeling extra lazy. Think I'll watch Swing Time with the commentary track.

Dang squirrel is getting footy prints on my snow.

We're going to do some wandering around town, I think.

Otherwise...just trying to stuff everything in the van. Hopefully I can get everything in and won't have a buncha boxes leftover that have to be mailed.

Heh...

Yep, about 24 hours left! Hope to head out at least by eight or so tomorrow, though we'll see how things go. The beauty of driving is that I can be flexible...

That does sound like a good time for a depature. Hope you can get it all the van. There's lots of nooks and crannies to stuff the odd box or book.
Do the kitties know they will soon be heading out on an adventure?

Tam has known for weeks. He's been a horrible pest...sticking to me like glue and yelling LOUDLY and generally being all wired up.

Halvah is clueless, I think. She's been rather intrigued by the furniture's departure, but then she goes back to napping.

Heh, seems like you the bases covered as far as cats go - outrage and indifference, hopefully the outrage can slide to amused tolerance. Ours have that one as well.

Heh...I think he'll be OK once we're in the car. But he doesn't want me sneakin' off on him. ;-)

I just hope they do OK. Since I'm going to have to crate them most of the way, I worry that they won't use the litter box at the right times or that they'll want to use it but not know how to tell me, or TELL me, but only when we're on a deserted stretch of interstate with no place to stop.
