The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Cartman's such a sweetie. Just dotes on her, doesn't he?

Oh! And let us know what the deal is next door. Here's hoping he's making plans to fix stuff!

He dotes on her more than Pippin of late... There may be some maturing going on with the boys where they don't want to get too close ;~D

Sure! That'd be great. I'm figuring I can probably load pretty well everything in the next day or so, except for the items I'm using.

Wish someone would express interest in the bed. *sigh* I realize I can always lower the price to ridiculous levels and it'll sell, but...

There's something very appealing about a man sitting in a garage by a space heater working on a pinewood derby car with a couple of kids!

I'm just sayin'...

Just got in from the library...Matthew has become interested in the Edmond Fitzgerald so we went and checked out some stuff. I'm glad too, because that is really a big part of Steve's history. His dad worked on a Taconite mine on the North Shore of Superior and oreboats like the EF were what carried the ore they mined! Steve grew up in a mining town. He was 13 years old when the EF went down. A guy from his hometown actually went down with it.

You'd really like this catalog I've been looking through! They sell seeds and plants for vegetables and flowers and herbs, PLUS things like books and kits on making goat cheese, wine and beer, and soaps, and different kinds of sourdough starter, fresh spices and herbal teas. Neat stuff. Fun just to look through, in any case!

What a great story and pictures! Love the pics of the boys towards the end...the ones by themselves with the big eyes and cheezy smiles. :-)

Kids are great.

I don't know. He does a lot of stuff around the store, so I think he's handy ;~D He might be working on the lights or the floor... who knows.

He's a very shy man, and he speaks NO english, so I don't want to go over there and scare him. - I'll wait and talk to Richard.

I know I need to be getting over there to clean out the fridge so it can be plugged back in.

That song came out the year we were married, and we thought it was about some shipwreck from earlier in the century or something! We didn't know, for many years, that the wreck had only happened earlier in that year that the song was released!
