The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

But that's never as much fun as the long, drawn-out torture of making your life miserable. ;-)

I'm right behind you, Corin.

Nighty night Hobbit Hole!

I'm freaking out in every way you can imagine!!!

I just got in from my BA CHEF meeting and was talking to Steve...

Ok...backtrack...you remember that I tried to take the jedis to the Royal Ambassadors (missions studies) at my church but it was too far away and too rowdy and too long, so I decided to take them to the RAs at the church down the street (CDTS) because it's a block away and not so long (still pretty rowdy.) That was at the beginning of the school year, right?

Fast forward to today...

Steve got a phonecall here at home...a recruiter for some company...don't remember the name but part of it was Midstream. He called the guy back and left a message on his machine, then went ahead and helped the jedis finish up their pinewood derby cars for the big race this evening.

So when Steve got to the pinewood derby race, the organizers set him in charge of checking people in. He checked a guy in with the same last name as the recruiter! Steve asked him "Hey, you don't happen to be related?" and the guy says "That's my brother! He'll be here in a few minutes!"

So the recruiter shows up and actually gets to know Steve at the pinewood derby race! They're going out for lunch tomorrow!!!

It's great, because now it's like Steve has a connection! All because several months ago I felt like it would be best if the jedis went to TCDTS!!

Oh, and he did get pictures...I'll post them tomorrow. Joshua came in first place amongst the younger RAs and Matthew came in 2nd place with the older ones.

So there's that, too!

Heh heh!! Yep! I came home from my meeting and it was almost 11pm! (We really enjoy our fellowship at the BA CHEF meetings!) But the jedis were still up and I got to hug them and congratulate them! Joshua was especially happy...it was his first.

Then Steve laid that bit of news on me about the recruiter and I was really just shocked! I mean, standing in the living room with my hands on my head and my mouth hanging open! LOL!!

It was such a coincidence! But come to find out that when the guy got his resume, he recognized our address because he's from the same part of town. He actually lives nearby. But being at the same church at the same time for a pinewood derby! Whodah thunk?

That's very cool! Personal connections make all the difference...I think that's one thing that's crippled me here.

Well, it's a lesson here that you never know how something is gonna come down....you just never know! Steve didn't have a connection until tonight!

Here's hopin' it brings good things!

I went to a meeting with the group from church, mostly to say goodbye to the few gals I knew best. Not many were there, and a lot of the discussion was about future activities...but I guess I'm still glad I went.

You know, I know that after Steve graduates, if we have to we might have to move. But I sure love it here, you know? I've never been this happy in my life in any place. And this company is here in Tulsa...

I gotta go to bed! It's after midnight here! I'm gonna take a benadryl...otherwise I'll never get to sleep, I'm so keyed up!

Night, Sis!
