True. I doubt most hotels are booked solid this time of year.
I wish I had a book for Super 8 and other cheap chains - I have Motel 6, 'cause that's where we stayed during this past trip. But it'd be nice to know where other pet-friendly places are. I realize I could probably sneak 'em in just about anywhere, but...Tam might get me in trouble if I did. He's not exactly quiet. Granted, from a distance someone might not realize from the sound that he's a cat, but...
Last time I stopped by a Dairy Queen, they had a regional book for travelers that showed super 8 locations... or maybe there's a map of them online at their website.
The red dot sights are GREAT for quick, close in work. They have a wide angle of view, and allow for both-eyes-open shooting. A dot or reticle is reflected onto your eye, representing a point out at optical infinity that is adjusted to match the strike of the round.
Not only do you not have to line up a front and rear sight (ghost ring rear sights are good iron sights for your purpose, too), you don't even need a good shooting position. As long as your eyeball can see the dot, the round will hit whater the dot is resting on, even if you are holding your weapon sideways.
The further out west you get, there's Shilo inns. They're pet-friendly and not outrageously expensive.
That sounds pretty useful on a boat after all.
They do have a website...but the books are nice because you can take 'em with you. Print is still a good thing! ;-)
I'm guessing there must be at least one of each of those kinda places right here in town. I s'pose I could stop in and get one from each.

Too bad you couldn't run down to SLC and have a look in at Sam Weller's Zion Bookstore. I haven't been there, exploring the stacks in the basement (the "dungeon", old books) since 1978, alas...
Ogden, UT has both a Motel 6 and Super 8.
Use your AAA, chica. Go online and it plots out your trip for you, including available hotels, rest areas, etc. :-D
Yep. Hopefully the coverage is pretty good. I think Verizon is pretty near everywhere.
Yeah, that's what I was thinkin' for a first stop. That's *if* I do the trip in three days, though. It's a good stopping point if I use that plan.
AAA does gas milage estimates, too. I like that. And I think a lot of hotels will give a slight discount for members. I don't think Motel 6 does, but they couldn't really discount much more'n they already do. ;-)

There's another Super 8 on the Idaho/Oregon border too, if you do the 3 day version.
I have Verizon and it's just great as long as you aren't actually ~in~ a building. :-D
It works almost everywhere here, though it didn't at the company where I was workin'. Big metal framed building...guess the signal didn't get through or sumpin'.
And occasionally I'll experience some weirdness, like being able to hear my family perfectly - clear as a bell - but they can't hear me.

This is a route I've probably traveled in part when I was really little, but I don't remember it. I was born in Portland and Dad has a sister in Utah - I know we visited at least once, but I only remember very vague details... Definitely don't remember any of the views out the windows, more's the pity!
Heh...the really bad thing about those commercials is that when you find yourself saying that - and what else can you say? - you feel like a total doofus.
