Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And there are many paths to tread
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Well, we're back from our errands - namely a trip to IKEA. I've been planning out all the projects I want to do this year and the common stumbling block to all of them is getting my sewing/work room organized. IKEA is the perfect place for organizing gear.
So, I have my floorplan, my sketches, dimensions, price list, et al. I've been working on getting the shelves and stuff for the past two years so none of this was an impulse buy, it's all been carefully planned. As such, I had the unreasonable expectation that my items would actually be in stock. Oh no. Not at all. I'm going to have to place a phone order and pay extra $$ for the delivery. At this point, I'd pay anything to avoid the aggravation of driving almost an hour in traffic, pushing my way through the shuffling hordes of bored city people, and locating the items I want only to see on the tag "ITEM IS TEMPORARILY OVERSOLD."
Big'ol found the phrasing of that very interesting. While most of the bored city people would find it European and quaint, Big'ol sees it as a reflection of the socialist psychology found in Sweden and elsewhere in Europe. The typical phrase "Out of Stock" puts the onus on the company. It's the company's fault there aren't any items for you to buy, but they'll be restocking soon. "Item is Temporarily Oversold" suggests there would be plenty of items left if only those pesky customers hadn't bought so many. The item will only be restocked if it won't foil some other part of the management master plan or isn't too much of a hassle.
Oh, IKEA. How I love and hate you.

Jen has occasionally mentioned some clueless guy that could not take a hint bugging her. I have offered to send a picture for her desk of me appropriately outfitted but she turned it down ;-D

On the other hand, it might simply attract another class of wacko.

So...the Hobbit Hole picture should be of whatshisname getting shot to pieces.

*snicker*
One of these days we should put that 2J picture in the doorway...
