I don't think so...though it really pains me to make this comparison...but the Steelers are like the Dallas Cowboys...one of those teams that has a national following. You can find a Steeler bar in just about every NFL city (there are two in Indy). The Steelers, like the Cboys, just have a different mojo than other franchises. If the Steelers make it to the SuperBowl, the ratings will be great.
one of those teams that has a national following.
?? Maybe a top 2 'MOST' hated teams. When you talk about 'National' following you talk about the Giants, Patriots, Jets and Cowboys. A national following comes from people that have moved from that area. Pittsburgh, compared to said markets, is a very small populated area. Unlike the Giants and Patriots the Steelers only sell out when they are winning. I remember going to Pitts. when they were something like 3-7 and we bought tickets @ the box office. Pittsburgh NEVER sells out for the Pirates and look at the penguins. Everyone loves a winner...only.
The Pirates attendance numbers are way up since their move to PNC Park (truly a Cathedral of the Game). The Bucs marketing department deserves kudos for making PNC a 'location' to be at as well as watching the game being played. And the Pens aren't doing too badly either at the gate (considering they are horrendous on the ice). Sydney Crosby has brought alot of interest back to hockey in the Burgh.
The Giants and Jets? Maybe you are confusing them with the Yankee pinstripes...
Also, out of 32 teams the Steelers rank 25th as far as attendance. Road games they are ranked 23 out of 32. Not much of a 'NATIONAL' following, wouldn't you agree?
It depends on what NATION is being polled. Slam Sports (I just visited it) is 'Canada's Sport Page.' Ay? When you come up with some AMERICAN stats ping me.
The Giants and Jets? Maybe you are confusing them with the Yankee pinstripes...
Jets are Ranked number 3...Giants number 5.....Patriots number 6. Like I said, those teams have 'NATIONAL' followings, not Pittsburgh. Look at the numbers.
Don't you ever get tired of being so wrong? Or are you just making up stupid lies?
Heinz Field has sold out for every Steeler game. They are sold out well into the future.
Of course, Three River Stadium also sold out for every Steeler game at least since 1973.
Maineboy is pimping Canadian poll results to indicate what Americans want? LOL
Gotta just love the information super highway :)
It's the only trash he has left to talk. He's literally been wrong about everything else.
Sad, isn't it?
By the way, regarding other trash from maineboy in this thread, how many games did the Steelers fail to sell out in Three Rivers Stadium? Anyone know? How about Heinz Field? I believe the number is vanishingly small, like 1, or 0.
Post the numbers. Link it.
Is it possible you're right finally about something?
Oh, and I'm neither little nor your friend. You don't have that privilege.
Unless I had too many Irons, I never recall seeing 10,000 plus empty seats. Ever.
I'll wait for him to prove his point. But I will not hold my breath.
Beyond the Sea will know if there was such a dry spell. It sounds like BS to me.
If that requires registration, try this.
See the table. Sold out since 1974.
And the writer is from Dallas! LOL
