I don't think so...though it really pains me to make this comparison...but the Steelers are like the Dallas Cowboys...one of those teams that has a national following. You can find a Steeler bar in just about every NFL city (there are two in Indy). The Steelers, like the Cboys, just have a different mojo than other franchises. If the Steelers make it to the SuperBowl, the ratings will be great.
one of those teams that has a national following.
?? Maybe a top 2 'MOST' hated teams. When you talk about 'National' following you talk about the Giants, Patriots, Jets and Cowboys. A national following comes from people that have moved from that area. Pittsburgh, compared to said markets, is a very small populated area. Unlike the Giants and Patriots the Steelers only sell out when they are winning. I remember going to Pitts. when they were something like 3-7 and we bought tickets @ the box office. Pittsburgh NEVER sells out for the Pirates and look at the penguins. Everyone loves a winner...only.
Also, out of 32 teams the Steelers rank 25th as far as attendance. Road games they are ranked 23 out of 32. Not much of a 'NATIONAL' following, wouldn't you agree?
It's the only trash he has left to talk. He's literally been wrong about everything else.
Sad, isn't it?
By the way, regarding other trash from maineboy in this thread, how many games did the Steelers fail to sell out in Three Rivers Stadium? Anyone know? How about Heinz Field? I believe the number is vanishingly small, like 1, or 0.
And I'll be in one of them.
;-)
I flew into LAX on 12/24/05 and immediately hightailed it to Gabe's Bar and Grill (2965 S. Sepulveda) in time for the opening kickoff against the Browns.
Gabe's is listed as among the Steeler Nation bars around the country that have become congregation points for Steeler fans (most of whom are decked out in team jerseys) who are there to view the Gold & Black games on big screen TV.
IMO, it is more fun watching the game with like-minded fans in a bar than being in the stands.
BTW, Gabe's has dropped their grill, and they don't serve draft beer. But it has a great Steeler vibe.
