KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - A kiss is just a kiss, but it may prove to be the kiss of death for a Malaysian snake charmer who will attempt to set a new world record by planting 50 smooches on a venomous snake in 10 minutes.
Shahimi Abdul Hamid, 33, will perform the dangerous feat on March 11 in a bid to break the current record held by an American man who kissed a poisonous snake 30 times in an unspecified time, the national news agency Bernama said Thursday.
Shahini has urged Malaysians to support him in his endeavor, saying he "wants to prove that Asians can also be champions in taming poisonous snakes."
He could not be reached for comments.
Bernama said Shahimi displayed his prowess at a news conference late Wednesday by kissing a three-meter long King Cobra 21 times. His bid in March will be filmed by U.S. television show Ripley's Believe It Or Not, Bernama said.

I think he'll do it. But the trophy may be awarded posthumously.
I saw Pissant attempting this record on the streets of downtown Seattle. Police soon arrested him when they received reports of a man offering other men $5.00 to let him "kiss their snake."

Don't they all die from the last bite?
This guy was supposedly bit on a number of occasions, and he'd go in his back yard, and suck on some leaves, and recover from his "bite". He figured that he built up and immunity to cobra venom. He didn't realize how wrong he actually was until it was too late to get to a hospital. They speculated that the cobra's may have bit him on those few occassions but didn't inject venom into him for whatever reason. The last bite he recieved, he did his usual suck on leaves in the backyard and figured since he beat the venoms attack before and did not need to seek anti-venom. So, he had plenty of supposedly last bites that may have ended his life, when actually, they weren't true bites until the one that did him in.
This man has set low goals in life and has met everyone of them.
I expected to see a picture of him kissing Hillary. How disappointing that it's only a cobra.
The only thing that would make this more dangerous to the guy would be if he tried to kiss Helen Thomas 50 times in 10 minutes.
