Actually, I'd probably use either a treadle rig for the bellow or an electric. Blacksmiths have a tendancy to either make due with junk or make it themselves. I've heard of people using a hairdryer for a bellows motor in a pinch.

No. I think we have axed that plan for now. We are pretty much decided on having another child, so maintaining the health insurance through my company is kinda mandatory.

We'll see, but we may actually try and find some "investment" property down here. 20-30 acres unimproved in the middle of no where. It'd be perfect for hunting, shooting, and possibly a small building for a forge. ;-)

Wow. I knew smithing was "involved" but it's been a long time since I've been around any forges.

Health insurance is pretty important, nowadays. One never knows what's going to happen in the insurance world. Or the employment world, either.

Twenty to 30 acres sounds big enough for a forge...;o] I hope you can find something you like in an area that is full of the kind of game you like. That would be pretty cool!
