In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
dubiety \doo-BY-uh-tee; dyoo-\, noun
1. The condition or quality of being doubtful or skeptical.
2. A matter of doubt.
Example sentences:
Kennedy and O'Connor may think that Title 3 has been violated, but O'Connor and the chief justice are not convinced that the Supreme Court was meant to litigate challenges under that federal statute, and their dubiety here is shared by Justices Scalia and Souter.
--Hadley Arkes, "A Morning at the Court," National Review, December 2, 2000
I want every inconsistency, every dubiety, every ambiguity left in.
--David Maclean, quoted in David Hencke, "Tories plot hunt bill dirty tricks," The Guardian, January 17, 2001
Etymology: Dubiety is from Late Latin dubietas, from Latin dubius, "doubtful, uncertain."
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
Oh damn. I should have read the thread first.
Which is one reason Judge Alito will be confirmed, and another reason I like Joe Biden. He still has the old spirit--an ingenuous spirit, a crazy one, a stupid one. But spirit nonetheless.Priceless Peggy!
Nicely done. A+
Lose your dubiety regarding Flylady! I've been a Flybaby since 2001 (been a Freeper, longer LOL!) and I LOVE it. She gives permission to not hold onto things you just don't need. (i.e. notes from college classes I'll never look at again, etc.) I need to get busy flinging some kids' dresser drawers, however......
I was never a complete disaster, but now I do a lot of little cleaning in odd times, like waiting the 2 minutes for the microwave, I'll wipe down a counter. That is the sort of stuff you pick up.
I just don't want to be inundated with emails.
I trace my Conservative "Awakening" to the Clarence Thomas hearings. I sat and watched all weekend long getting sicker and sicker.
Filter is your friend. Actually, the daily reminders have pretty much dropped off after they had some yahoo snafu. The testimonials and her essays are great.
schummer is grandstanding........what an a-whole
Senator Cute as a Button Sessions is speaking now. i still LMAO when i think of that nickname for him that i saw somone use on the Alito thread
he does have a cute smile......
Says he hasn't heard anything to relieve his troubled mind after refusing to allow Alito to answer any questions and then proceeds to read a prewritten statement. He's vile.
maybe they mean his lil suthren drawl?
doesn't hurt at all ;)
I thought they were saying "doobs." LOL!
UGLY Dobiety. Ewwwwwww.
Top 110.
Fun fellas. Still have CD of them.
I asked Cyber if our schools were ever closed for "heat" days. Never closed for heat. Now, that just isn't fair.
And the Sermon I think this Mom will never forget.... this particular >Sunday sermon..."Dear Lord," the minister began, with arms extended >toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. "Without you, >we are but dust." He would have continued but at that moment my very >obedient daughter (who was listening!) Leaned over to me and asked >quite audibly in her shrill little girl voice, "Mom, what is butt dust?"
Did your fog burn off?
