Yeah, and it`s pretty dumb to be burning leaves in drought conditions too. I bet the wind blown sparks was what started the fire.

This sounds like the best explanation -- are you an insurance adjuster? :)

If it was "cosmic justice" it might fall under the Act of God provisions in an insurance policy and the homeowner would be SOL.

I too am skeptical---It was either a VERY large mouse with fur like a sheepdog's or a mouse blessed with superintelligence that knew just where to run, and sat under flammable curtains as long as needed to set the house ablaze. And WHY coiuld the homeowner not have seen the fire start and go put it out?

That's what I thought.
As an aside, my parents were married in Ft. Sumner about a zillion years ago.

I dont' like mice running around but that was a terrible thing for that person to do. Either destroy the mouse or forget about it but don't do what he did. That was a high price to pay for an extermination.

Kind of stupid and callous of the guy to get rid of a mouse by burning it alive. A simple blow to the back across the shoulder blades will kill a mouse or rat quickly. He could have even flung it against a wall.

Picking up a wild mouse is rather stupid also as they can carry lyme disease, Hanta virus or other unpleasant diseases.

This jerk gets the "Darwin" award for gross stupidty and unnecessary cruelty.

I'm cool. I just try to abide by FR's rules and assist where I can to help the mods maintain the place. Mods say they don't want duplicate threads, or at least they used to. Whether they choose to lock or not lock the thread is of no concern to me.
