...and his insurance company could easily deny the claim.
Rodent damage is a standard exclusion in most policies.

Well it was a conspiracy. The owner paid off the mouse to light the house on fire. The mouse got paid with a block of cheese.

Holy Flaming Torqumada, Batman!!

Talk about the mouse that roared...disproves the Klingon maxim that says "Vengeance is a dish that is best served cold."

Richard Gere was saddened by the tragic events.

"Although not a Gerbil, that mouse speaks to flamers everywhere. We will miss his spark and wish him habit'trails."

Unseasonably dry and windy conditions and this guy is burning leaves unattended in his back yard?

"You know PETA will come after this guy for cruelty to animals."

You're probably right; and in the big picture of things, it was still a mouse.

I guess I'm pretty hypocritical on the mouse issue. I have no problem setting traps, or letting the cat catch/eat the occasional mouse. But, if I catch it, I'll take it out to the woods behind my house an let it go.

Never occurred to me to toss it on a fire.

Yeah, and it`s pretty dumb to be burning leaves in drought conditions too.
I bet the wind blown sparks was what started the fire.

The default search is "match any word", so a search on the full title turns up a huge volume of hits. Being posted yesterday the article was probably way down the list. I started to post the article this morning, but I searched on the exact title, as provided by the Houston Chronicle, and then searched again on a few keywords "mouse" and "fire" which turned up the article from yesterday.

It would probably benefit the forum if the search feature could prioritize by relevance.

As Ted Nugent says, "You can't grill it, until you kill it."

If your house is the closest, I would bet that mouse is likely going to be back before nightfall. It's where they like to live.

However I can't fathom throwing something live (other than maybe a cockroach) into a fire.

Kill it first, then dispose.

Exactly. This guy's a sadist deep down. He probably got his jollies as a kid by tormenting neighborhood cats.

Can you imagine the look on this guy's face as he explains to everyone how he burnt his house down? He will never live this down. Cosmic justice, indeed. hahahaha

Typical media. No mention that the mouse was a Muslim extremist.
