Women waste billions on clothes never worn

LONDON, JANUARY 7: British women have spent more than 7 billion pounds buying clothes, shoes and accessories they will never wear, according to a survey on Friday.

Women have 14 items of clothing, on average, lurking in the back of their wardrobes that they have not worn in the last year, the survey by home insurer Churchill found.

Each unwanted item cost an average 21.82 pounds, which meant Britain's 24 million women spent 7.3 billion pounds last year on clothes they did not wear, the insurer said.

Nearly two-thirds of women (62 percent) said that they bought their fashion follies in the sales, the same proportion as bought clothes a size too small in the hopes of dieting to fit their latest finds.

Churchill said women were spending an average 305 pounds a year on clothes they would never wear, or 12,810 pounds in a working lifetime.

"Many householders are guilty of buying new clothes in the sales which will never get worn," said Martin Scott, head of Churchill Home Insurance.

I have a different policy. Basically, in our house, once we get past the basics, with with we contribute equally, everything else we buy on our own. She uses her paycheck to buy her clothes, shoes, and that perfume, and I use mine on things I want. I've found it works best this way. She doesn't have to worry about her money being wasted on pipes, cigars, and the all important guys night out, and I don't have to worry about my money being wasted on feminine things.

Is that your creation? May I use it?

No. It's been around a while. I love that one!

Funny story:

Both my wife and I took our 14 year old shopping to buy anniversary presents last year at the mall. My wife took him one day and I took him the next day.

When I get to the car after shopping, my son says to me: "You know dad, mom and I went shopping for your present and it took us two hours.

How do you manage to buy mom's gift in under 15 minutes?

Genes was my response and learn something from it. Women shop, men buy

Ooops. Should have been more clear, "No, that's not my creation!"

If it were, you would be more than welcome to use it. It's all over the internet, so I think the creator has let it go into the public domain.... but don't quote me on it.

A lot of women are just spoiled rotten and think that the Universe revolves around them. Just another example.

One notes that she never made it to the Gap.

Which only illustrates the saying,

"Shop till you drop........then sit down and BUY SHOES!!"

"And how does this compare to men? Do we have any male volunteers to do a survey?"

I have 4 suits, 2 blazers, 5 dress slacks, 14 button down shirts, 2 pair of jeans, 5 polos and 2 pair of dress shoes, 1 pair of sneakers and I am set!

Now my wife on the other hand... has the rest of the three closets in our house filled with her clothes. She has probably 30 pairs of shoes... The only problem is I think I either bought them myself or encouraged her to buy most of them :)

I guess. They just look like shoes to me – but Jennifer claims they’re all different. That 2” heel black pump has slightly different stitching than this 2” heel pump. That red flat has a different sole …

It is my considered, if not learned, opinion that women keep the world economy going.

Guys would be like "Hey, this is a nice tree, lets live here", if it wasn't for cavewomen going "but Petra's husband built this really nice palm shelter outside THEIR cave"

I wear just about everything I buy for myself, until it wears out. The only things I don't wear out is the stuff that my wife bought for me that she thought I'd look good in...without asking me first.

Mr. CGG wants a recount.

Let's see.

The Pope is Cathlolic

Ice is Cold

Fire is hot.

And yes women (including my wife)spend money on clothes they might wear once or not at all.

Shocking isn't it?
