Cy, short for Cyclops, a kitten born with only one eye and no nose, is shown in this photo provided by its owner in Redmond, Oregon. The kitten, a ragdoll breed, which died after living for one day, was one of two in the litter. Its sibling was born normal and healthy. (AP Photo/Traci Allen) (January 06, 2006)
You mean I have to READ the threads I ping?
I have a six-month old one-eyed kitten. She lost her left eye from some sort of infection she got in a house with 45 other cats.
She was rescued at four weeks, but the eye had to be surgically removed.
She's a doll; she has to turn her head to see things, but Iris fits in fine with her kitten sister, Lily.
I'm with you. A friend has a beautiful 3-legged cat, and he's perfectly happy and loved. I'm sorry this poor guy didn't make it, and I hope he didn't suffer too much in his short life.
LOL!! Iris!! That is sweet!!
I hope this isn't a PhotoShop make-up...but if it is real...the hard part would have been breathing...
I saw the headline, and couldn't / wouldn't look at the picture.
Ah...take it elsewhere....
The other cats would have pointed and laughed. The way they would have teased and made fun of the kitten would have been terrible.

LOL!!! Cat ridicule is cruel!!
Poor thing. I've nursed and fostered a lot of sick, injured or dying animals and it's never easy. Sometimes it was the saddest cases that had the most dignity and personality.
See ya Cy. Have fun playing Up There!
I hope this isn't a hoax...but this is what i'm talking about...I see something in that little eye. Of course, I may be nutz....
"Of course, I may be nutz...."
I think a lot of people think that we "animal" people are all slightly nuts anyway. :-)
Other cats know its a freak, they will pick on it.
Matter of fact they do sense it, other cats would have made life hell on earth for it.
Well, you're right about that. More than likely, it would have been attacked by other cats... Still, I was joking with my comments, as I told a friend who put a bow on her bulldog, how the other dogs in the neighborhood would start laughing and pointing at him, telling jokes and making fun of him.

There's more wrong with this cat then his/her eye. The head is small. Scottish folds bred together can leave a skeletal birth defects and Manx cats bred together can have offspring with spina bifida. Poor little kitty. It looks like the owners did try to comfort him or her until the end.
The key here is "ragdoll". This is the result of deliberate breeding of animals with genetic defects for human amusement. The notion of deliberately breeding cats (or dogs) while millions are being euthanized for lack of homes, is sick IMO. But the profit- and amusement-driven breeding of genetically abnormal animals is even worse. When you deliberately breed cats for traits like an inability to maintain normal muscle tension, there are bound to be a high number of births with even more serious defects.
I'm pretty sure that must be Photoshoped. Kittens are born not only with their eyes closed, but blue. Plus they always go through a sort of crusty phase when they open don't they? This one eye is crystal clear. And wouldn't the mouth be more open if it didn't have a nose?
